CALL TO ORDER
Mayor Merlo called the meeting to order at 9:13 a.m.

MOTION
Mayor Pro Tem Ybarra moved and Council Member Lopez seconded a motion to
approve the agenda. The question was called and the motion carried 4-1 Council
Member Larios absent.

CONSENT CALENDAR
MOTION
Council Member Lopez moved and Mayor Pro Tem Ybarra seconded a motion to
approve the Consent Calendar. The question was called and the motion carried 4-
0, Council Member Larios absent.
The Consent Calendar consisted of the following items:
1. Meeting Minutes
Recommendation: Approve the June 11, 2024 Special and June 18, 2024 Special
and Regular City Council Meeting Minutes.
2. Public Works Department Monthly Report
Recommendation: Receive and file the May 2024 Building Report.
3. Quarterly City Housing Report
Recommendation: Receive and file the 2024 Second Quarter City Housing Report.
4. Public Safety Special Parcel Tax
Recommendation: Re-Adopt Resolution No. 2024-13 determining the Public
Safety Special Parcel Tax levied for Fiscal Year (FY) 2024-25, pursuant to
Municipal Code Section 3.20.020.
NEW BUSINESS
5. Appointment of Daniel E. Calleros as Interim City Administrator
Human Resources Director Earl presented the staff report.
MOTION
Mayor pro Tem Ybarra moved and Council Member Lopez seconded a motion to
adopt Resolution No. 2024-015 affirming the appointment of Daniel E. Calleros to
serve as Interim City Administrator of the City of Vernon and approving and
ratifying the execution of a related temporary at-will employment agreement. The
question was called and the motion carried 4-0, Council Member Larios absent.
ORAL REPORTS
6. City Administrator Reports on Activities and Other Announcements.
Interim City Administrator Calleros provided an update on the Metrolink Union
Station Project; and announced City Hall will be closed Thursday, July 4, in
observance of Independence Day.
7. City Council Reports on Activities (including AB 1234), Announcements, or
Directives to Staff.
None.
