That a special election be held, and that the same is hereby called to be held in the City of Vernon, on Wednesday, the 15th day of :February, 1922, for the purpose of submitting and there shall be Bubmi tted to the qualified electors of the B~l.id 01 ty the fol- lowing propositions to be known and designated on the ballot used at said special election as flPropositia n No.1" and "Proposition No.2". PROPOSITION NO.1. Shall Ordinance No. 229, an ordinance prohibiting the hauling of garbage into the City of Vernon from any pl..ce outeide of ...id city to be u.ed in the City of Vernon, for the purpose of feeding hogs, or for any other purpose whatsoever. be adopted? PROPOSITION NO.2. Shall Ordinance No. 231, an ordinance establishing a district within the city of Vernon where stock yards, slaughter houses, and tanneries may be estab- liehed and maintained, be adopted? SEC~' ION 2. The polla, at said specie.l election, must be ~. opened at six o'clock A. M. on the date of election, E-lnd must be kept open until seven o'clock P. 11. of the 6BJlle day, men the polls shall be closed, except and provided however, that if, at ga,1d hour of closing, there are any voters at the polling place, or in line at the door, who are qualified to vote and have not been able to do 80, the ~ollB shall be kept open a sufficient time to enable them to vote, but no one who sltI11 ha.ve arrived at the polling place a.fter seven 0' clock in the after- noon shall be €Inti tIed to vote. although the polls may be open upon the arrival of such person. SECTION 3. That for the purpoee of holding the eaid epecial election, all of the election precincts of said city are hereby consol- idated into one election precinct to be known as "Consolidated Election Precinct No.1, and the polling place for the same 1s hereby fixed and established, and the following named peraons are hereby appointed officers of election for said special election: Consolidated Election Precinct No.1: All of the City of Vernop, Which comprises state and county precincts Numbers 1 and 2. The Polling Place: City Hall of the City of Vernon, at the northwest corner of 38th Street and Irving Street. Inspe~tor: Carrie Finn. Judges: Stanley Gibson. E. R. Peralta. Clerke: Harry Sloan. The City Clerk of said city shall have printed sufficient copies of said ordinances a'bove referred to and knovm as "Proposition No. 1" and "Propoeit,ion No.2", 80 as to mail a copy of -2- ea,ch of flaid ordinances to each qualified elector. together with a sample be.llot e.t least ten days prior to the da,te of said special elec- ticn. ~ SECTION 4. There being no newspaper of general circulation published and ciroulated in the c1 t~. of Vernon, the City Clerk shall, upon the passage of this ordinance, certify to the same, and post or cause to be pOgRd in three of the most public places in the City of Vernon, to-wit, the northwest corner of 38th Street and Santa Fe Avenue~ the northwest corner of East 37th Street and Santa Fe Avenue; and at the entrance to the Ci ty Hall of said oi ty of Vernon, at the northwest corner of East 38th Street and Irving Street.
