The Board of Trustees of the City of Vernon do ordain as
follows:
Section 1. That the right, ~rivilege and permission be.
and the same is hereby granted to the Southern Pacific R"ilroe.d
Company, a corporation, i te sucoessors and assigns I to 1q, conetru~
lIl&.intain and operate a railroad spur track on Alameda Street, in the
City of Vernon. County of Los Angeles, Stats of California. between
the pointB hereinafter described to wit:-
Besinning at a point in Southern Paoifio Co.'e EasterlY
Right-of-Way Line, said point being distant 180 feet. plue or
minus, measured N30 46' W along said Eaeterly Right_of_Way Lino
from its intersection with the fUture North Line of Center Avenue:
Thence Southeasterly acrOBS Alameda. Street, along a ourved
line, concave to the left, having a radius cf 239.17 feet and wnoBe

radial line to the point of beSlIlning of curve bears S790 52' E, "
distance of 79 feet, plus or minus to a point in the Eaoterly line
01' Alameda Street, eaid point being diBtant 109 feet, plus or
minus, measured N3046' West along said EaBterly line of Alamed"

and in the event such street shall be graded, paved or otherwise im-
proved under the authority of eaid City of Vernon, then suCh spur
track over or upon such street and the ground for a distance of two
feet on each .ide thereof, shall be by grantee, or its as.igne made
to confo~ to said grade, and Shall be so maintained by said grant..r
its suocessors or aB&1gns, with the tops of said rails

Section 3. The right, privilege and permission her.by
granted ahall be exeroieed and enjoyed subject to the fcllowing
condl tions.
1st: That no cars or looomotives shall be permitted at any time.
to stand upon the streets occupied by .aid spur track except during
the time actually .mployed in ewitching, londing or unloading car.
plaoed thereon, and that said spur track ahall at all times be used
so as to obstruct the use of said streets and alleys by vehicles
or passengers as little as possible conaietent with the usee for w.hiCh
eaid .pur track iB to be constructed:
2nd: 'fhat said grant.., its successors and ....s;1gn., shall oon-
struct all neoesaar,y flumes and culverts for the passage of water
under said track whenever or Wherever neceseary. and that all suCh
flumes or culverts shall be constructed in aoaordance with the plans
and specifications therefor, approved by the City Engineer of the

and replank, gravel and regravel. pave and repave all portions of the

now. or m~ hereafter be planked or replanked, graveled or regr&veled.

4th: That any neglect, failure or rsfUea1 on the part of the
grantee. its succeeaors and aseigns, to observe or complY wiUh any
of the terms or conditions in this ordinance contains shall effect
.. forfeiture of the right, pri.ileg. and permiesion hereby granted,
.ltnd the eaid City, by its :Board of Truetees, IlUo/ thereupon declare
BUch rights and l'rivilegee forfeited, and may exclude said grantee,
its successors and as~igns, from any further uee of the etreets and
al~eYB occupied by said spur track, and the grwlt hereby rr~de shall
thereupon beoome and remain nUll. void and of no effect.

5th:c That the City of Vernon expressly reeerved the right to

pave, aacadamize. sewer, or repave, remacadamize or resewer Baid
street across WhiCh the right to construct said railroad spur track
18 hereby granted, and to pq gas, water and other pipes therein.
such work to be done so as to injure eald railroad as little as
possible.
Section 4. That eaid railroad company shall at the time said
's~ur track is constructed, construct a cros6ir~ across, in and along
.,said Alameda Street at the place of crOBsing extending two feet from.
the rails, the aame cla.IIS of pavement as the rest of the street, 80
as to make good and sufficient croBsing for teRms and wagons, and
'it and its successors and assigns shall at all times While said spur
track is maintained, maintain said crossing in like good manner and
failing therein the said City of Vernon sha11 have the right to

oonstruct said crossing and maintain the same, and said railroad
company, its sucoessors or assigns, shall pay to the City whatever
,amount it &hall have expended to BUch construction and maintenance.

Section 5. The City Clerk shall certif,y to the paeaage of
this ordinance, and shall caused ths same to be printed and pasted
