An ordinance granting to the Southern Pacific CoIllpIl.l'lY, the
right, privilege and permieeion to lay ~ld construct a railroad Bpur
traok in the City of Vernon:
The Board of Trustees of the City of Vernon do ordain as
tollows:

Section 1. That the right, privilege and permission be,
and the ~.,ame is hereby granted to the Southern Pacific Railroad
Company, a co~orat1on, its successors Qnd assigns, to l~. oonstruet
maintain and oper,,_te a railroad spur traok on Alameda Street, in the
City of Vernon, County of Los Angeles. Gtate of California, betweeJn

1st: That no cars or locomotives shall be permitted at any time
to sta.nd upon the streets occupied by said spur traok exoept during
tlie tme actually employed in ewitcl::dnGI loading or unloading care
placed thereon, and that said spur tra.ck shall at a.ll tines be used
eo as to obBtruct the use of said streets and alleys by vehicles
or passengers aB 1 it tIe as po 5S ible conei stent with the use:s fa r which
said spur track is to be oonstructed.
2nd: That said grantee, ite suocessors and assigns, shaJ.l con-
struct all necessary fluJr;es and culverts for the paflBage of water

Wlder said track whenever or wherever neceaaary. and that all such
'flumes or culverte shall lie Constructed in acoordence with the plane
and specifications therefor, approved by the City :sngineer of the
City of Vernon.
3rd: That 59-fd grantee, its successors and aSBiGIlS, will plank
and replank, gravel and regra-vel, pave a.nd repave all portions of the
Btreet OCcupied by said spur track, and for a distance of two (2)
teet on each side thereof with the same material ~ld under the same
spec1f1oationfl and in the ~;;une manner as eJaid :;streets and alleys :J.re
now, or m~ hereafter be planked or replanked, graveled or regraveled,
paved or repaved. and that all such ',Fork clull be cione under the
11}etructions of, and to the '"3atisfactlon of the Board of 'l'ruBtees
of the City of Vernon.
4th: '.rhat any neglect. failure or rt':fusal on the part of the
grantee, its BUocee,,;ors and a.signe. to observe or comply with any
of the terms or conditions in this ordinance contains shall effect

5th: That the City of Vernon e:xprclIsly reserved the right to
lJave, aaoadamize. sewer, or repave. remaoadamize or resewer said
street across which the l'igl1t to oonstruot said railroad 2jJUr traok
is hereby granted, and to P"O' gatt, water and other pipes therein,
such work to .be done So as to injure said railroad as little a.e
pOl!ls1ble.
Section 4. Tbat sa.id ra11road comlJany shall at the time said
spur track is constructed, construct a craBeing across, in and .long
said Alameda. Dtreet at the pla.oe of crossing extending two feet from
the rails, the same ala-Bs of' pavement a.s the re6t of the..atreet. so
as to make good and sufficient crossing for teame and wagons, and
it and ita succeeDOrs and assigns shall at all til:les while said spur
track ie maintained, maintain said crossing in like good m~ner and
failing: therein the said City of Vernon sha.ll have the right to
