The City Coune il of the City of Vernon does ordain as
follows:

Sect ion 1.
To :promote the public health, safety and

general welfare, and civinG cons ideration to the character of
the l)ropcrty, its peculiar suitatility for particular use, and
the con5ervi;l,tion of :property va.lues, a. port ion of the City of
Vernon is lJereby divided into five zones (wherein some of said
zones overlap), wherein certain particular businesses or call-
ines are see;,--regated and may be carr ied on in the zone designated
for such business or calling, and not otherwise, in said City.
Section 2. D.'iJFIJH'l'Imm. Certain words in this
ordinance are hereby defined for the purpose of this ordinance.
All words used in the :present tense shall include the future
tense; all -Jorde in the plural Dunber shall ineludB the singular
number, and all words in the singular- munber shall include the

be permitted to be carried on again in the City of Vernon
except in tile zone designated for such business.
Section 9. The official zoning map has been prepared
in duplicate, setting forth each zone upon a map of the City of
Vernon, one copy of which is in the office of the City Clerk
and onc copy in the office of the Gity lGngineer. 1'hc City
E:ngineer shall ha.ve charge of a.ll changes in the offi~ ial zon-
inG map, and the City Clerk sha.ll report to the City .8ngincer
all changes as they are Drovided for by amenwaents duly passed
by the City Council within two days from the tune they become

or in any way a.ffect the building ordinances or the fire preven-
tioD ordinances of the City of Vernon.
Section 11. Any person, firm or corporation violating
any of tlle 2)'O'/is10n8 of tl1is act shall be deemed guilty of a.
misdemea.nor, and, upon conv iet ion thereof. 8hall be ~JUnishable
by a fine of not to exceed Three Hundred (:~300.00) Dolla.rs, or
by impr1s0l1:alent in the City Ja.il of the City of Vernon. 01' in
the County :rail of the County of Los AnCeles, fo:.c a period of
time not to exceed three (3) months, or by both such fine and
imp;~iso!1ment. Each of such persons, .fil'YllS or corporations shall
"he deemed i~uilty of a se"Qarate offense for each tw"enty-four
