3 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF VERNON REGULATING LIQUEFIED PETROLEUM
GASES.

5 THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF VERNON DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
6 Section 1: It shall be unlawful for any person to
7 store, sell or offer for sale, within the City of Vernon, lique-
8 fied petroleum gases, when stored in other than portable contain-
9 ers, for house lighting, cooking or heating, except as in this
10 Ordinance provided.

Section 2: It shall be unlawful to store or keep with-
12 in the City of Vernon, for the purpose of resale, use, or other-
13 wise, any liquefied petroleura gases in greater quantities than
14 fifty (50) gallons at anyone time.
15 Section 3: All containers of liquefied petrole~un gases
16 shall be located not less than fifty (50) feet from the nearest
17 building or group of buildings or line of adjoining property
18 that may be built upon, but may be located within ten (10) feet
19 of the place devoted exclusively for the storage of said lique-
20 fied petroleum gases and the distribution of same.
21 Section 4: For the purpose of this Ordinance, "lique-
22 fied petroleum gases" shall mean any gas derived from petroleum
23 or natural gas which is in a liquid state while under pressure
24 and having a vapor pressure from forty-five (45) pounds to two
25 hundred and thirty (230) pounds per square inch absolute, at a
temperature of one hundred (100) degrees Fahrenheit, as determined
26
27 I by the Reid Vapor Pressure Method D-323, made in accordance with
the A.S.T.M. procedure.
Section 5: Any person violating any provision of this
Ordinance shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor, and, upon con-

viction thereof, shall be punishable by a fine not to exceed
32 Three Hundred Dollars (;~300.00), or by imprisonment in the City

1 Jail of the City of Vernon, or the County Jail of the County of
2 Los Angeles for a period of sixty (60) days, or by both such
3 fine and imprisonment, at the discretion of the committing
4 Magistrate.
5 Section 6: Any Ordinance or part of Ordinance in con-
6 flict with this Ordinance is hereby repealed.
7 Section 7: The City Clerk shall certify to'the passage
8 of this Ordinance and shall cause the same to be posted in three
9 of the most conspicuous places in the City of Vernon, to-wit:
10 The northeast corner of 38th Street and Santa Fe; the northwest
11 corner of 37th Street and Santa Fe Avenue; and on the bulletin
12 board in th~ lobby of the City Hall of the City of Vernon, located
13 at 4305 Santa Fe Avenue, in said City. This Ordinance shall be
14 in full~force and effect from and after thirty (30) days of the
15 date of posting.
