AN OI~DINANCE OIi' TIm CITY OF VERNON FIXDm THE RATE OF ~lAXES AXD
LEIIYIKG THE TAXES FOR THE FISCAL YEAR BEGINNING JULY 1, 1938.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE crIT OF' VERNON DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLmvs:
Section 1: That for the purpose of raising the SQm of
money to be ra.ised by taxation upon taxable property in the City
of Vernon as revenue to carryon the various departments of said
City for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 1938, the rates of
taxes for the different portions of the City of Vernon are hereby
fixed, and taxes are hereby levied, on all taxable property in
the different portions of said City for the fiscal year beginning
July 1, 1938, in the number of cents upon each One Hundred Dollars
of the assessed value of said property as assessed by the County
Assessor and equalized by the Board of Supervisors of the County
of Los Angeles, and for the several funds and purposes set forth
in the following table, the taxes levied upon property in each
portion of said City hereinafter described and designated by a
District Number being at the rates set opposi te the desi,;;nations
of the respective funds in the column headed by the District
Number which is prefixed to the description of such portion of
said City as hereinafter stated.
DISTRICT NO.1: All that portion of the City of Vernon
included within the boundaries thereof as originally incorporated;
all that territo~J annexed to the City of Vernon at annexation
election held June 9, 1925, and known as Vernon Avenue Annexation;
all that territory annexed to the City o.f Vernon at annexation
election held October 3, 1928, and shown as Vernon and Downey
territory.
DISTRIc~r NO.2: All that territory annexed to the
City of Vernon at annexation election held October 26, 1920, and
known as Industrial Tract; all that territory annexed to the

1 Section 3: Tbat addition to the rates hereinabove
2 fixed 8.nd determined, there shall also be levied upon all the
3 taxable lands of the Acquisition end Improvement District of said
4 City, to pay the principal and interest which has become, or will
5 become, payable on the bonds of said District issued. under the
6 proceedings therefor, before the proceeds of another tax levy
7 can be made available for the pa:yment of said principal an.d
8 interest, a special asseSSMent tax in each of the reopective zones
9 of said District set forth in the following table:
