Ordinance No. 540 1 ORDINANCE NO. 540 2 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF VERNON A1iENDING SECTIONS 13 and 16 of ORDINANCE NO. 431 OF THE CITY OF VERNON AND REPEALING ORDINANCE 3 NO. 482. 4 THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF VERNON DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: 5 Section 1: That Section 13 of Ordinance No. 431 be amended 6 to read as follows: 7 "Section 13. STOPPING, STANDING, AND PARKING. STANDING 8 PROHIBITED IN SPECIFIED PLACES. Except to avoid conflict with 9 other trafflc, or in compliance with the direction of a police 10 officer or a traffic signal, it shall be unlawful for the oper- 11 ator of a vehicle to stand in the following places: 12 13 14 1. In an intersection; 2. In any crosswalk; 3. At any place in the roadway where the two right wheels 15 of the vehicle are more than eighteen inches distant from the 16 regularly established curb line; 17 4. At any curb within fifteen (15) feet of a fire hydrant; Within fifteen (15) feet of a point on the curb immedi- 6. ately opposite the midblock end of any safety zone; 7. At any place within fifteen (15) feet of an intersection in any business district, except at designated bus stops; 8. At any curb within fifteen (15) feet of any midblock 25 crosswalk; 9. At any curb on Alameda Street from the north boundary line of the City of Vernon to the south boundary line of said City. BOULEVARD STOPS. The following streets, and parts of streets, are hereby declared to constitute boulevard stops for the purpose of this Ordinance: (a) Alameda Street from the north boundary line of the City of Vernon to the south boundary line thereof; (b) Santa Fe Avenue from the north boundary line of the City of Vernon to the south boundary thereof; (c) Soto Street from the north boundary line of the City of Vernon to the south boundary line thereof; (d) Downey Road from the north boundary line of the City of Vernon to the south boundary line thereof; (e) Leonis Boulevard from Pacific Boulevard easterly to the East city limits of the City of Vernon, (f) Vernon Avenue from the east line of Santa Fe Avenue easterly to the east line of Downey Road; (g) Thirty Eighth Street from the west city limits to Santa Fe Avenue; (h) Boyle Avenue from the north boundary line of the City of Vernon to the south boundary line thereof; (i) Slauson Avenue from Boyle Avenue to Downey Road. (j) Twenty Sixth Street from Alameda Street to Downey Roa~ (k) Pacific Boulevard from Santa Fe Avenue to Fruitland Road. (1) Fruitland Road from Pacific Boulevard to Downe,r Road; (m) On Alameda Street where the same intersects 25th Street, Vernon Avenue, and 55th Street. (n) On Santa Fe Avenue where the same intersects 25th Street, 26th street, 38th Street, Vernon Avenue, 49th Street, and 55th Street. (2) 1 (0) Soto Street where the same intersects 37th Street, 2 Leonis Boulevard, and Fruitland Road. 3 (p) (Q) Boyle Avenue where the same intersects Fruitland Road; Downey Road where t he same .intersects 26th Street and 4 5 crosses the Santa Fe Railroad track north of 26th Street within the 6 City limits of Vernon. 7 (r) It shall be unlawful for the operator of any vehicle 8 or street car traveling any street intersecting any such boulevard 9 ~ fail to stop such vehicle or street car at the place where such 10 street meets the nearest property line of the boulevard before 11 entering such boulevard; provided, the property line is clearly 12 marked or sign posted as required by this Ordinance. Section 4: There being no newsp~er of general circulation printed, published, and circulated in the City of Vernon, the Cit~, Clerk is hereby directed to certify to the passage of this ordin- ance, and shall post the same, or cause the same to be posted, in three of the most public places in said city, to wit: the north- west corner of 38th Street and Santa Fe Avenue; the northwest (3) 10 11 12 6f ; 1 corner of 37th Street and Santa Fe Avenue; and on the bulletj_n 2 3 4 board in the lobby of the City Hall of the City of Vernon, located at 4305 Santa Fe Avenue, in said city; that this ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after 5 thirty days from the date of posting.
