ORDINANCE NO. 545

AN ORDINANCE OP THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CI'lY OF VERNON
2 AUTrIORIZING AND DIRECTING THE CITY ATTORNEY TO BRING AN
ACTION IN TEE SUPERIOR COURT OF THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA
3 IN AND FOR TEE COUNTY OF LOS ANGELES IN TEE NAME OF TEE
CITY OF VERNON FOR THE CONDE~~ATION OF CERTAIN PROPERTY
4 DESCRIBED IN THIS ORDINANCE.
5 THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF VERNON DOES ORDAIN AS
6 FOLLOWS:

Section 1: That public interest, convenience and
necessity require, and it is hereby found and determined

that public interest, convenience and necessity require,
10
and the City Council of the City of Vernon does hereby
order, the condemnation of the hereinafter described pro-
perty for a public use.
Section 2: That the public use for which said

land here~nafter described to be condemned is to be used
as a Municipal Pumping Station to be a part of the City's
15

Municipal Water System for the development of water wells
and the pumping of water threrfrom; for the erection of the
necessary pumping equipment thereon; the laying of pipes
and other necessities threon including necessary building to

house employees of the Water Department and all necessary
buildings to cover machinery, equipment and appurtenances

required to carry ,out the purpose of the use, and all water
produced from said land is to be used to supply said City
and its inhabitants with water within the corporate limits
thereof.

Section 3:
That the land necessary to be taken for
the use described in Section 2 hereof is situated in the
City of Vernon, County of Los Angeles, State of California
and more particularly described as follows, to-wit:
All the
real property situate in the City of Vernon, County of Los
Angeles, State of California, and being that por~ion of Lot A,

1 Tract No. 2164, as shown on map recorded in Book 32, page
2 46 of Maps, records of said County more particularly de-
3 scribed as follows:
4 Beginning at a point in the southerly line
5 of said Lot A, in the northerly line of Vernon
Avenue, distant 150,00 feet westerly, from the
southeasterly corner of said Lot; thence north-
erly, parallel with, the easterly line of said
Lot A, a distance of 208.00 feet, to a point
in the southerly line of the parcel of land con-
veyed to said City of Vernon by deed recorded
in Book 893, page 229, Official Records of said
County; thence westerly along last said souther-
ly line a distance of 230.41 feet to the easter-
ly line of Parcel No. 1 as conveyed to City of
Vernon by deed recorded in Book 11961, page 284,
Official Records of said County; thence southerly
along last said easterly line, a distance of 208.00
feet to a point in the southerly line of said Lot
Aj thence easterly along last said southerly line,
a distance of 230.41 feet to said point of begin-
ning, containing 1.100 acres, more or less.
Section 4: That the land described in Section 3 to
be taken for the use described in Section 2 hereof is located
in the manner which will be most compatible with the greatest
public good and the least private injury.
Section 5: That the City Attorney of said City is
hereby directed to bring an action in the Superior Court
of the State of California, in and for the County of Los
Angeles, in the name of the City of Vernon, for the con-

1 demnation of the property described in Section 3 of this
2 Ordinance, against all owners and claimants of said property,
3 or any part thereof, pursuant to and in accordance with
4 Title VII, Part 3 of the Code of Civil Procedure of' the
5 State of California.

Section 6:
There being no newspaper printed and

circulated in the City of Vernon, the City Clerk is hereby
8
directed to certify to the passage and adoption of this
9
Ordinance by a vote of two-thirds of all the members of
the City Council of the City of Vernon, and post, or cause
10

to be posted,in the said city, in three of the most public
12
placee in said City, to-wit: the northeast corner of 38th
13
Street and Santa Fe Avenue; the northwest corner of 37th
14
Street and Santa Fe Avenue; and on the bulletin board of the
15
16
lobby of the City 'Hall of the City of Vernon, located at
4305 Santa Fe Avenue, in said City; that this Ordinance
17
shall be in full force and effect from and after the date
18
19
of posting.
