ING SECTION I OF' ORDINANCE NO. 548.

THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF VERNON
6 DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
7 SECTION I.
8 That Section I of Ordinance No. 548 is hereby
9 amended to read as follows:
SECTION I. Definitions. As used in this
ordinance, the following words and phrases
shall mean:
"Black-out Signal": A fluctuating or undu-
lating signal of varying pitch for a period
of two minutes duration sounded on a siren,
or sirens, whistle, or whistles.
"All-clear Signal": A continuous signal of
two minutes duration at a steady pitch sounded
on such siren, or sirens, whistle, or
whistle s.
"Black-out Structure": Any area so enclosed
that any illumination maintained or existing
therein is not visible from any point outside
such enclosure.
SECTION II.
This ordinance is required for the immediate pre-
servation of the public peace, health and safety, and the
following is the statement of facts constituting such urgency:
The United States is at war and the City o~ Vernon is in
great and continuing danger of air and other attack by the
enemy.

SECTION III.
The City Clerk shall certify to the passage and
adoption of this ordinance and shall cause the same to be
posted in three (3) of the most conspicuous places within
the City, to wit: The northeast corner of 38th Street and
Santa Fe Avenue; and, the northwest corner of 37th street
and Santa Fe Avenue; and, on the bulletin board in the lobby

of the City Hall of the City of Vernon, located at 4305 Santa
Fe Avenue in said City; and the same shall be in full force
and effect from and after the date of posting.
