ORDINANCE NO. 561
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF VERNON PROHIBITING Trill SLAUGH'rER
OR SALE OF HORSES, lVIULES OR BURHOS WITHIN THE CITY OF VERNON
TO BE PROCESSED OR SOLD FOR FOOD FOR HID/IAN CONSUMPTION.
THE crpy COUNCIL OF THE CITY OP VERNON DOES ORDAIN AS POLLOWS:
SECr.I:ION I.
It shall be unlawful for any person, firr:or corpora-
tion to engage in, conduct or carryon or asist in the engag-
ing, conducting or carrying on tb.e business of slaughter or sale
of horses, mules or burros wlthin the city of Vernon to be pro-
cessed or sold for food for human consumption.
SEC'lIION II.
Any person, rLrm or corporation viol8.tlng any of the
provisidns of this Ordinance shall be guilty of a misdemeanor,
and, upon conviction thereof, shall be subject to a fine not to
exceed Three Hundred ($300.00) DOllars, or imprisonment in the
City Jail of the City of Vernon, or the County Jail of' the Coun-
ty of Los Angeles, at the discretion of the CormnittingI:lagiatra.te,
or by both such fine and imprisomment.
SECTION III.
There being no newspaper printed or published in the
City of Vernon, the City Clerk shall certify to the passage of
this Ordinance and shall cause same to be posted in three (3)
of the most conspicuous pls.ces within the City of Vernon, to-wit:
on the Bulletin Board in the Lobby of the City Hall of the City
of Vernon, 4305 Sahta Fe Avenue; at the Northwest corner of 38th
Street and Sanfa Fe Avenue, and at the I\forthwest corner of 37th
Street. and Santa Fe Avenue, all within the City of Vernon and
said Ordihance shall be in full force and effect thirty (30)
days from and after the date of passage.
