3 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF VERNON REGULATING THE USE~ STORAGE
AND SALE OF LIQUIFIED PETROLEUM GASES.

THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF VERNON DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:

Section 1. It shall be unlawful for any person,
7 firm or corporation to store~ sell or offer for sale within
8 the City of Vernon, liquified petroleum gases when storedin
9 other than portable containers for house lighting, cooking or
10 heating, except as in this ordinance provided.

Section 2. It shall be unlawful to store or keep
within the City of Vernon, for the purpose of resale~ use~ or
12

otherwise~ any liquified petro~ gases in greater quantities
than fifty (50) gallons at anyone time.
Section 3. It shall be unlawful to use within the

City of Vernon liquified petroleum gases from any container
containing a greater quantity than fifty (50) gallons at
17

anyone time.

Section 4. All containers of liquified petroleum gases
shall be located not less than fifty (50) feet from the nearest
building or group of buildings or line of adjoining property
that may be built upon, but may be located within ten (10) feet
of the place devoted exclusively for the storage of said liqui-
fied petroleum gases and the distribution of same.
Section 5. For the purpose of this Ordinance, "li_
quefied petroleum gases" shall mean any gas derived from petro-
leum or natural gas which is in a liquid state while under pres-
sure and having a vapor pressure from forty-five (45) pounds to
two hundred and thirty (230) pounds per square inch absolute,
at a temperature of one hundred (100) degrees Fahrenheit, as
determihed by the Reid Vapor Pressure Method D-323, made in ac-

Section 6. Any person violating any provision of this

Ordinance shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor, and, upon
conviction thereof~ shall be punishable by a fine not to ex-
ceed Three Hundred Dollars ($300.00), or by imprisonment in
the City Jail of the City of Vernon, or the County Jail of the
County of Los Angeles for a period of sixty (60) days~ or by

both such fine and imprisonment, at the discretion of the
committing magistrate.
Section 7. That Ordinance No. 518 and all other

Ordinances or parts of Ordinances in conflict with this Ordi-

nance~ are hereby repealed.

Section 8. The City Clerk shall certify to the
14
15
passage of this Ordinance and shall cause the same to be posted
in Three of the most conspicuous places in the City of Vernon,
to-wit: The northeast corner of 38th street and Santa Fe;
the northwest corner of 37th street and Santa E'e Avenue; and

on the bulletin board in the lobby of the City Hall of the
City of Vernon, located at 4305 Santa Fe Avenue, in said City.
This Ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after
thirty (30)days of the date of posting.
ADOPTED AND APPROVED this 4th day of 1Ie.y., 1943.
