ORDINANCE NO. 580
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF VERNON ABANDONING CERTAIN PROPERTY
FOR THE USE FOR WEICH IT WAS ORIGINALLY PURCHASED.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF VERNON DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
THAT, WHEREAS, The City council of the City of Vernon
has heretofore purchased certain property hereinafter described
for the purpose of developing water .in connection withthe city's
Municipal Water Works, and
WHEREAS, the City Engineer of said city, after careful
study,has informed the City Council on February 6, 1945 that
the property heretofore purchased for the developing of water
for the city water works is not suitable and recommended that
the property heretofore purchased be sold on the open market:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. That the City Council of the City of
Vernon does hereby determine and declare that the property here-
inafter described and heretofore purchased by the city for the
development of water for the use and benefit of the citizens
and inhabitants of the City of Vernon is unsuitable for said
purpose.
Section 2. That it is for the best interest of the
City of Vernon that said property be abandoned for the use and
purpose for which it was purchased, to-wit: the devaopment of
water by the city to be used by the citizens and inhabitants
of the city of Vernon.
Section 3. That the following described property be
and the same is hereby abandoned for the use and purpose for
which the same was purchased, as hereinbefore set forth. Said
property to be abandoned for the development of water for the
City of Vernon and its citizens and inhabitants is hereby des-
cribed as follows:

A parcel of land situate in the City of Vernon,
County of Los Angeles, State of California, and being
all of that certain parcel of land conveyed to the City
of Vernon by deed recorded in Book 3458, page 349, Offi-
cial Records of said County, more particularly described
as follows:

Beginning at a point in the northerly line of the
17 ft. right of way of Atchinson, Topeka and Santa Fe
Railway Company, hereinafter called Railway Co., S.
no degrees 37' 30" E. 21.50 feet from the southwest
corner of Lot 20, Block 45, Huntington Park Extension
No.2, as shown on map recorded in Book 11, page 6,
of Maps, records of said county;

Thence along said right of. way line S. 89 degrees,
36' 50" W., 37.89 feet to beginning of a curve concave
to the northeast and having radius of 279.44 ft.;
Thence continuing along said right of way line and
along last said curve, westerly and northwesterly a dis-
tance of 297.50 feet, measured on the arc, to a point in
a line drawn parallel with and 85 ft. distant easterly
from the easterly line of the 60 ft. right of way line of
aforesaid Railway Co., the last said point being South
60 degrees, 36' 49" west from the center of said curve;

Thence along last said parallel line, North No degrees
08' 30" E. 51.90 feet;
Thence N. 89 degrees 31' 30" E.. 556.86 feet to a point
in the westerly line of Pacific Boulevard as shown on
aforesaid map of Huntingten Park Extension No.2, the
last said point being in a curve concave to the west and
N. 63 degrees 39' 18" E. 894.26 feet from the center
thereof;

Thence southerly along said last curve having radius
of 894.26 ft. a distance of 230.70 feet measured on the
arc, to point of intersection with the aforesaid northerly
line of the 17 ft. right of way of Railway Co.;
Thence following said northerly right of way line,
S. 89 degrees 36' 50'1 west, 116.15 feet, to beginning of
a curve c~ncave to the north and having a radius of
278.00 ft.;

and long last said curve northwesterly a distance of 76.17
feet, measured on the arc, to the beginning of a curve con-
cave to the south and having a radius of 295.00 ft.;
Thence continuing on last said right of way line

Section 4. There being no newspaper of general cir-
culation printed, published and circulated in the City of Vernon,
the City Clerk is hereby directed to certify to the passage of
this ordinance, and shall post the same, or cause the same to
be posted, in three of the most public places in said city,
to-wit: Northwest corner of 38th Street and Santa Fe Avenue,
the Northwest corner of 37th street and Santa Fe Avenue,
and the bulletin Board in the lobby of the City BalI of the City
of Vernon, located at 4305 Santa Fe Avenue, in said city;
that this ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and
after thirty days from the date of posting.
