AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF' VERNON AMENDING SECTION 24 OF ORDI-
NANCE NO. 571, AN ORDINANCE HEGULATING THE USE, STORAGE OR E(AND-
LING OF FLAMMABLE LIQUIDS, AS DESCRIBED THEREIK, WITHIN TIill

TEE CITY COUNCIL OP THE CITY OF' VERNON DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:

7 Section 1. That Section 24 of Ordinance No. 571 is
8 hereby amended to read as follows:

Section 24. UNDERGR01mD STORAGE TANKS LIMITED
10 Tanks buried underground shall have the top of the
11 tank not less than 4 feet below the surface of the ground, and
12 below the level of any piping to which the tank may be con-
13 nected, except, that, in lieu of the 4 foot cover, tanks may
14 be buried under 24 inches of earth and a cover of reinforced
15 concrete at least 5 inches in thickness provided, which
16 shall extend at least one foot beyond the outline of the
17
tank in all directions;
concrete cover to be placed on a
18
firm, well tamped earth foundation. Where necessary to
19
prevent floating, tanks shall be securely anchored or

weighted. The limit of storage permitted shall depend upon
the location of tank with respect to the building to be
supplied and adjacent buildings, as follows:

Section 2. The City Clerk shall certify to the
passage of this Ordinance and shall cause the same to be
posted in three of the most conspicuous places in the City of
Vernon, to-wit: Northwest corner of 38th street and Santa Fe
.avenue, the northwe st corner of 37th street and Santa Fe ....ve-
nue, and the Bulletin board in the lobl,y of the c. ity Hall of
the c.ity of vernon, located at 4305 uanta .t.e hvenue, in said
City. This Ordinance shall De in full force and effect from
and after thirty (30) days from the date of posting.
