AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF VERNON ESTABLISHING SET-BACK
LINE vmERE NO PERMANENT STRUCTURES l~Y BE EREC~~D ALONG
CERTAIN STREETS WITHIN THE CITY OF VERNON
THE CITY COUNCIL OF fI1HE CITY OF VERNON DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOV1S:

Section 1.

The City Council of the City of Vernon,
6 does hereby determine and declare that public peace, health,
7 safety, comfort, convenience, interest and welfare require,
8 and it is hereby ordained that the minimum distance back
10 ures,to be designated as set-back lines, on Sierra Pine Avenue
9 from the street line for the erection of buildings or struct-
11 between 26th Street and the southerly end of Sierra Pine Ave-
12 nue, within the City of vernon, hereby is fixed at five (5)
13 feet.

Section 2.
'rhat the set-back line on Fruitland
15 Avenue lying westerly of Downey Road where such property
16 lines are located twenty (20) feet from the center lines of
17 street shall be, and the same is hereby fixed at thirty (30)
18 feet from the center line of said Fruitland Avenue.

20 f'irm or cOI'poration to construct any building or structure
Section ~. It shall be unlawful for any person,
21 on either side of that portion of Fruitland Avenue lying
~1 we~terlY of Downey Road within thirty (30) feet of the center
~ Ilne of said street.

Section 4.
No building permit shall be issued
for the construction of any building or structure contrary to
this ordinance.
Section 5.
An;!" person v:Lola ting any of the provis-
ions of this ordinance shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor
and upon conviction thereof, shall be fined a fine not to ex-
ceed $300.00 or by imprisonment in the City or County Jail at
the discretion of the committing magistrate, for a period not

to exceed three (3) months, or by both such fine and imprison-
ment. Each such person shall be guilty of a separate offence
for each and every day duri.ng any portion of which any viola-
tion of any of the provisions of this ordinance is committee,
conditioned or permitted by such person and such person may be
punishable accordingly.
Section 6.
'l'hat the City Clerk of the C1ty of
Vernon shall certify to the passage of this Ordinance, and
shall cause the same to be posted in three of the most con-
spicuous places in the City of Vernon, to-wit: at the north-
west corner of 38th street and Santa Fe Avenue; at -1-' north-

lilest corner of 37th Street and Santa Fe Avenue, a.n,d on the
bulletin board in the lobby of the City Hall of the City of
Vernon, located at 4305 Santa Fe Avenue, in said City; that
this ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and
aftex' thirty (30) days from theda te of pos tine;.
