ORDINANCE NO. 601
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF VERNON DECLARING ITS INTENTION TO
CLOSE UP" VACATE AND ABANDON A PORTION OF ALCOA AVENUE IN THE
CITY OF VERNON.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF VERNON DOES ORAIN AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. That it is the intention of the City Council
of the City of Vernon to order the vacation and abandonment of a
portion of that certain public street in the City of Vernon known
as Alcoa Avenue (formerly Magnolia Avenue), more particularly
described as follows:
All that portion of Alcoa Avenue (formerly
Magnolia Avenue) in the City of Vernon, County of
Los Angeles"State of California" designated as
"Parcel Number 5" in Final Judgment and decree of
Condemnation in Superior Court Case No. 218827"
recorded July 24, 1933 in Book 848, page 256, of
Judgments, records of said County, excepting the
northerly seventeen (17.0) feet thereof.
Section 2.
The City Council of the City of Vernon does
hereby fix the t~e for the hearing of all persons interested in
or objecting to the proposed vacation" which time and place shall
be March 4, 1947 at 2:00 o'clock P. M. in the Council Chambers
in the City Hall of the City of Vernon, 4305 Santa Fe Avenue.
Section 3. The Street Superintendent of the City of
Vernon is hereby directed to cause notices af street vacation to
be posted conspicuously along the line of the street proposed to
be vacated, and such notices shall state the passage of this
Ordinance of Intention and the t~e and place of hearing fDr all
persons interested in or objecting to the proposed vacation.
Said notices shall be posted not less than three hundred feet
(300') apart aad at least three (3) of such notices shall be
posted along the line of said street proposed to be vacated.
Section 4. There being no newspaper printed, published
and circulated in the City of Vernon" the City Clerk is hereby
directed to certify to the passage of this Ordinance and shall

post same" or cause same to be posted" in three of the most
public places in the City of Vernon, to-wit: Northwest corner
of 38th Street and Santa Fe Avenue" the NOrthwest corner of
37th street and Santa Fe Avenue" and the Bulletin Board in the
lobby of the City Hall of the City of Vernon, located at 4305
Santa Fe Avenue, in said City; that this ordinance shall be in
full force and effect from and after the date of posting.
ADOPTED AND APRROVED this 4th day of February" 1947.
