Ordinance No. 653 '\ ~. 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 20 21 22 23 24 25 ~ 26 z c "II: 0:: ::: ~.. 27 <( .. - 0 oo~ z 5 ~ ~ ..OOz~~uUl28 o :J II: 0: . . z J:O"'O:'::~ ~ .1-> ~ II: g -001-....0.< oJ 29 ~ <tou 1&1 oz,.>-;;: Z ~ Ol-!:uo~ lIliju: ~ ~ 30 0:: .. z ~ <( o_~ u rJ ~ ::l 31 J: 32 . ~ ... . 1 ORDINANCE NO. 653 2 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF VERNON DECLARING 3 ITS INTENTION TO CLOSE UP, VACATE AND ABANDON A PORTION OF DOWN~I ROAD IN THE CITY OF VERNON, AND RESERVING EASErlliNTS 4 THEREIN. 5 THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF VERNON DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: 6 7 Section 1: That it is the intention of the City Council of the City of Vernon to order the vacation of a portion of that certain public street in the City of Vernon officially 8 9 known and commonly referred to as Downey Road, and more partieu- lary described as follows: All that portion of Downey Road in the City of Vernon, County of Los Angeles, State of California, bounded as follows: Beginning at the southeasterly corner of Lot 2, Tract No. 9208, as per map recorded in Book 185, pages 42 and 43, of Maps, Records of said County; said'point of beginning being the intersection of the easterly line of said Lot 2 with the southerly boundary of the City of Los Angeles established August 29, 1859 as shown on said map of Tract No. 9208, said easterly line of Lot 2 being also the west- erly line of Downey Road and said southerly boundary of the City of Los Angeles being also the northerly boundary of the City of Vernon; said point of beginning being in a curve concave to the northeast, having a radius of 458.35 feet, a radial line through said point of beginning bears N. 840 57' 24" E; Thence southeasterly along said curve sixty-nine and seventeen hundredths (69.17) feet to a point in the west- erly line of Downey Road, a radial line through said last mentioned point on curve bears N. 760 18' 38" E; said last mentioned westerly line of Downey Road being thirty-three (33) feet westerly of and. parallel with the westerly boundary of the City of Los Angeler established January 3, 1925 as shown on said map of Tract No. 9208; and said last mentioned westerly boundary of the City of Los Angeles being also the easterly boundary of the City of Vernon; Thence N. 250 23' 55" W. seventy-five and forty-four hundredths (75.44) feet along said last mentioned westerly line of Downey Road to its intersection with the northerly boundary of the City of Vernon; said northerly boundary of the City of Vernon being also the said southerly boundary of the City of Los Angeles and the southerly line of said Lot 2 as shown on said map of Tract No. 9208; Thence N. 890 54' 30" E. twenty-one and eleven hun- dredths (21.11) feet, along the said northerly boundary of the City of Vernon to the point of beginning. Section 2: The City Council of the City of Vernon elects to handle these proceedings under the provisions of Division 9, Part 3 of the Streets and Highways Code of the State -1- ~ 26 z c :;; ~ 27 0:: .. Cl ~ <( ~~~ u rJ ~ 31 J: .. l' ". . .. ." 1 California. 2 Section 3: The City Council of the City of Vernon 3 hereby adopts as a map or plan of the proposed vacation of said 4 Downey Road the City Engineer's drawing designated A4-l225 and 5 titled "Proposed Vacation of Portion of Downey Roadft and directs 6 that said map or plan be filed in the City Clerk's office of 7 the City of Vernon for particulars as to the proposed vacation. 8 Section 4: The City Council of the City of Vernon 9 does hereby determine that public convenience and necessity 10 require that the City reserve and except from the vacation of 11 the southerly twenty-six (26) feet of the land above described, 12 the permanent easement and right to at any time, or from time to 13 time, construct, maintain, operate, replace, remove and renew 14 telegraph and telephone lines, water pipe lines, gas pipe lines, 15 and lines for the transportation and distribution of electric 16 energy and pertinent structures in, upon, over and across the 17 southerly twenty-six (26) feet of the portion of Downey Road 18 proposed to be vacated, as in this Ordinance set forth. 19 Section 5: The City Council of the City of Vernon 20 does hereby fix the time for the hearing of all persons interested 21 in or objecting ~o the proposed vacation, which time and place 22 shall be February 3, 1953 at 2:00 o'clock p.m. in the Council 23 Chambers in the City Hall of the City of Vernon, 4305 Santa Fe 24 Avenue. 25 Section 6: The City Council of the City of Vernon directs that notices of the proposed street vacation be posted conspicuously along the line of the street proposed to be vacated, and such notices shall state the passage of this Ordinance of Intention, and the time and place of hearing for all persons interested in or objecting to the proposed vacation. Said notices 32 shall be posted not more than 300 feet apart and at least three (3) of such notices shall be posted along the line of said street -2- ~ 26 z C ... Cl ~ <( ~~~ u rJ ~ ::l 31 J: . .. . o ... .. /' . .e 1 street proposed to be vacated. 2 Section 7: There being no newspaper printed, pub- 3 lished and circulated in the City of Vernon, the City Clerk is 4 hereby directed to certify to the passage of this Ordinance and 5 shall post same, or cause same to be posted, in three of the 6 most public places in the City of Vernon, to wit: Northwest 7 corner of 38th Street and Santa Fe Avenue, the northwest corner 8 of 37th Street and Santa Fe Avenue, and the bulletin board in the 9 lobby of the City Hall of the City of Vernon, located at 4305 10 Santa Fe Avenue, in said City; that this ordinance shall be in 11 full force and effect from and after the date of posting. 12 ADOPTED AND APPROVED this 6th day of January, 1953. 13 14 15 16 on 17 v 18 ~ City Clerk 19 20 STATE OF CALIFORNIA 21 COUNTY OF LOS ANGELES ) ) SSe ) 22 I, G.
