The attached application, dated December 3, 1952, of The
Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway Company for a franchise to
construct a railroad track in the City of Vernon across East 26th
Street, approximate) eight hundred (800) feet east of Downey Road
was referred to the City Engineer and City Attorney for checking
and preparation of Franchise Ordinance.
The description of the location of the track crossing
and the plat which accompanied the above application was found to
be in error. The Railway Company submitted three revised descrip-
tions and plats, one on December 29, 1952, one on January 2, 1953
and one on January 5, 1953. The description and plat submitted
January 5, 1953 was found to be correct and the Railway Company
requests that they be substituted in the original application.
If a franchise is granted, the track will be used for the
purpose of receipt and delivery of freight to and from the Hobart
Yard of the Applicant and the tracks of the Los Angeles and Salt
Lake Railroad Company and its Lessee, the Union Pacific Railroad
Company in the City of Vernon.
A proposed Franchise Ordinance has been prepared based upon
the revised description dated January 5, 1953. It is recommended
that the revised application be approved and the Franchise Ordinance
adopted.
Respectfully submitted,
