AN ORDINANCE OF 1'HE CITY- OF' VEHNON ES'rABLISHING A CURFEW .B'OR
PERSONS UNDER THE AGE OF EIGHTEEN Y~ARS AND RhPEALING ORDINANCE
NO. 23 OF SAID CITY AND ALL 0lI1HER ORDINANCES, IF ANY, IN CONFLICT
THEREWITH.

THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE Crry OF VERNON DOES ORDAIN AS J?OLLOWS:
Section 1: Every person under the age of eighteen
7 years who loiters about the public streets, avenues, alleys, parks,
8 or public places between the hour of 10:00 o'clock P.M. and the
9 time of sunrise of the following day when not accompanied by his
10 parent or legal guardian having legal custody and control of such
11 person, or spouse of such person over twenty-one years of age, is
12 guil ty of a mis demeanor.

Section 2: Every parent, guardian or other person
having the legal care, custody, or control of any person under
the age of eighteen years who allows or permits such person to
violate any provisions of this ordinance is guilty of a misdemeanor.
Section ~: A violation of this ordinance or of any
provision thereof shall be punishable by a fine of not more than
Five Hundred Dollars (~500.00) or by imprisonment in the County

Jail of the County of Los Angeles or in the City Jail of the City
of Vernon as the committing magistrate may direct for not more than
six (6) months or by both such fine and imprisonment in the dis-

cretion of the Court.
Each day or portion thereof during which any
of the provisions of this ordinance are violated shall be a
25
separate offense.
Section 4: That Ordinance No. 23 of the City of Vernon
and all other ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby repealed.
Section 5: If any provision of this ordinance, or the
application thereof to any person or circumstances is held to be
unconstitutional, the remainder of this ordinance and the applica-
tion of such provisions to other persons and circumstances shall

not be affected thereby.

Section 6:
There being no newspaper printed, pub-
2 lished and circulated in the City of Vernon, the City Clerk is
3 hereby directed to certify to the passage of this Ordinance and
4 shall post same, or cause same to be posted, in three of the
5 most public places in the City of Vernon, to wit: The northwest
6 corner of 38th Street and Santa Fe Avenue; the northeast corner
7 of Leonis Boulevard and Pacific Boulevard; and on the bulletin
8 board in the lobby of the City Hall of said City, located at
9 4305 Santa Fe Avenue, all in the City of Vernon, Los Angeles
10 County, California; that this Ordinance shall be in full force
