The Police Department shall 9 exercise due care in the preservation of said property. and shall deliver 10 up the same to any person identifying himself as the owner thereof to the 11 satisfaction of the Chief of Police of the City of Vernon. 12 SECTION 2: After a period of six months has elapsed from 13 the time that the Police Department came into possession of said property, 14 and no person having identified himself as the owner thereof. the Chief of 15 Police may destroy such property as guns, knives, clubs. saps or any 16 property deemed unsalable or liable to cause bodily harm in the hands of 17 irresponsible persons. All other property shall be sold at public auction. 18 SECTION 3: At lease five days prior to auctioning any 19 property the Chief of Police shall cause to be published in a newspaper of 20 general circulation in the County of Los Angeles a notice of suc~ auction 21 giving the date. time and place of said auction sale. 22 SECTION 4: There being no newspaper of general circula- 23 24 25 tion printed, published and circulated in the City of Vernon, the City Clerk is hereby directed to certify to the passage of this Ordinance. and shall post same. or cause same to be posted. in three of the most public places in said City, to wit: The northwest corner of 38th Street and Santa Fe Avenue; the northeast corner of Leonis Boulevard and Pacific Boulevard; and on the bulletin board in the lobby of the City Hall of said City. located at 4305 Santa Fe Avenue. all in the City of Vernon.
