ORDINANCE NO. 709

AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF VERNON MAKING IT UNLAWFUL TO
KEEP.. MAINTAIN OR CONDUCT# OR CAUSE TO BE KEPT~ MAINTAINED
OR CONDUCTED.. ANY LUNCH" MEAL OR EATING CART" WAGON OR
STAND USED IN SELLING OR VENDING POPCORN.. CANDY" PEANUTS"
OR ANY OTHER ARTICLE OF FOOD OR DRINK UPON ANY PUBLIC STREE "
ALLEY OR PLACE IN THE CITY OF VERNON.. AND REPEALING ALL
ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF VERNON ORDAINS AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1:
It shall be unlawful for any person. firm
or corporation. either as owner. agent. employee or otherwise. to keep.
maintain or conduct. or cause to be kept. maintained or conducted, at any
time, any lunch. meal or eating cart. wagon or stand. or any cart, wagon
or stand used in selling or vending popcorn. candy. peanuts. or any other
article of food or drink. in or upon any public street. alley or other public
place within the boundaries of the City of Vernon.
SECTION 2:
Any person. firm or corporation violating
any of the provisions of this Ordinance is guilty of a misdemeanor and
punishable by a fine of not more than five hundred dollars ($500.00) or by
imprisonment in the County Jail of the County of Los Angeles. or in the City
Jail of the City of Vernon. as the committing magistrate may direct. for not
more than six (6) months. or by both such fine and imprisonment in the
discretion of the Court.
SECTION 3:
That Ordinance No. 203 and all other
ordinances, or parts of ordinances. in conflict herewith be. and the same
are hereby repealed.
SECTION 4:
There being no newspaper printed.
published and circulated in the City of Vernon. the City Clerk is hereby
directed to certify to the passage of this Ordinance and shall post same. or
cause same to be posted, in three of the most public places in the City of
Vernon. to wit: the northwest corner of 38th Street and Santa Fe Avenue;

the northeast corner of Leonis Boulevard and Pacific Boulevard; and on
the bulletin board in the lobby of the City Hall of said City. located at 4305
Santa Fe Avenue, all in the City of Vernon. Los Angeles County. California;
that this ordinance shall be in full force and effect thirty (30) days from
and after the date of posting thereof.
ADOPTED and APPROVED this 21st day of January. 1958.
