THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF VERNON DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOW
SECTION 1:
That the rates to be charged by the Water
Department of the City of Vernon, for the sale of water from its municipal
water plant for domestic. commercial. industrial. fire protection purposes.
and standby service to be due and payable to the City monthly. are hereby
fixed as follows:
First 10,000 cubic feet per month,
For the next 90.000 cubic feet per month,
For all over 100. 000 cubic feet per month.

149 per 100 cubic feet
109 per 100 cubic feet
SECTION 2:
That the monthly consumption allowance
and the minimum charge to be charged to consumers of water from the
municipal plant shall be as follows:
Any person. firm or corporation receiving water from a
3/4-inch meter
I-inch meter
1-1/2 -inch meter
2 -inch meter
3-inch meter
4-inch meter
6-inch meter
8 -inch meter
10-inch meter

SECTION 3:

The charge for water in excess of the monthly consumption allowance
shall be at the rates shown in Section 1.
SECTION 4:
That the rates to be established. which
shall be considered the minimum rate for connections to the water system
of the City of Vernon for fire protection purposes, shall be as follows:
Each person, firm or corporation having a
2 -inch sprinkler connection.
3 -inch sprinkler connection.
4-inch sprinkler connection.
6 -inch sprinkler connection.
8-inch sprinkler connection.
10-inch sprinkler connection.
Each hydrant connection.
$ 3.00 per month
6.00 per month
9.00 per month
12.00 per month
15.00 per month
25.00 per month
5.00 per month
SECTION 5:
The Water Department of the City of
Vernon shall make a minimum charge of twenty-five dollars ($25.00) for
each temporary installation for water service and $15.00 for each
relocation of said service.
The water furnished through said temporary connections shall
be charged at the rate of one and one-half (1-1/2) times the water rate set
forth in Section 1.
Before temporary water service is connected. the applicant
for such service shall deposit with the City Clerk in cash or a surety bond,
approved by the City the sum of five hundred dollars ($500.00) for each
connection made. Said deposit and/or bond deposited with the City is to
guarantee the payment of all water charged through said connections and the
return to the City Water Department in good condition. usual wear and tear
excepted. of all materials furnished by the City of Vernon in making said
connection. together with all labor costs in connection therewith.
SECTION 6:
That the rate to be charged by the City of
Vernon for the sale of water from its municipal plant to any person, firm
or corporation conducting a retail water business shall be. and the same is
hereby. fixed at 109 per 100 cubic feet. (For the definition of "retail
water business" see Section I of Rules and Regulations).

SECTION 7:
That the charge for water and water
2 service for all classes of service not named in this Ordinance shall be
3 based upon charges contained herein as determined by the City Council.

SECTION 8:
That all ordinances and parts of ordinances
5 in conflict with this Ordinance be. and the same hereby are. repealed.
6 That Ordinances Numbers 362, 384. 405. 471. 496. 559. 562 and 684 are
7 specifically repealed.

SECTION 9:
If any Section. Subsection. sentence,
10 or unconstitutional. such decision shall not affect the validity of the re-
9 clause, phrase or word of this Ordinance is for any reason held to be void
11 maining portions of this Ordinance; it being the intention of the City Council
12 of the City of Vernon to adopt and pass this Ordinance. and each Section,
13 Subsection. sentence, clause, or phrase thereof irrespective of the fact that
14 one or more of the Sections. Subsections. clauses, sentences or phrases
16
15 thereof may be declared void or unconstitutional.
That. there being no newspaper of general
SECTION 10:
17 circulation printed. published and circulated in the City of Vernon. the City
18 Clerk is hereby directed to certify to the passage of this Ordinance and shall
19 post same. or cause same to be posted. in three of the most public places
20 in said City. to wit: the northwest corner of 38th Street and Santa Fe Avenue
21 the northeast corner of Leonis Boulevard and Pacific Boulevard and on the
22 bulletin board in the lobby of the City Hall of the City of Vernon. located at
23 4305 Santa Fe Avenue. in said City.

SECTION 11:
That the effective date of this Ordinance
25 is July 1. 1958.
