ORDINANCE NO. 715
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF VERNON GRANTING A FRANCHISE TO
SOUTHERN PACIFIC COMPANY, A DELAWARE CORPORATION, AND ITS
SUCCESSORS AND ASSIGNS.. TO CONSTRUCT.. MAINTAIN AND OPERATE A
SPUR TRACK ACROSS AND UPON FIRST STREET AND EAST 57TH STREET
IN THE CITY OF VERNON, CALIFORNIA.. AND REPEALING ORDINANCE
NO. 295.
The City Council of the City of Vernon finds that Southern Pacific
Company, a Delaware corporation. is a steam railroad engaged in interstate
commerc,e.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF VERNON DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS
SECTION 1:
That a franchise be and the same is hereby granted
to Southern Pacific Company, a Delaware corporation. its successors and
assigns. for a term of fifty (50) years, to lay, construct. maintain. use and
operate a railroad spur track upon and across First Street and East 57th
Street. in the City of Vernon. County of Los Angeles. State of California, the
center line of said spur track to be between the pOints and in the location
described as follows:
Commencing at the point of switch of drill track
located in the center of East Fifty-Seventh Street. 60 feet
wide, distant 111.4 feet west of the northerly prolongation
of the west line of First Street, 60 feet wide; thence
southeasterly through a Number Seven turnout to the right,
a distance of 62.80 feet to the point of beginning of a
tangent curve concave southwesterly having a radius of
229.30 feet; thence southeasterly along said curve through
an angle of 130 201 10" a distance of 53.34 feet; thence
southeasterly. tangent to the last described curve 50 feet
to the beginning of a tangent curve concave northeasterly
having a radius of 229.30 feet; thence southeasterly along
said curve (through an angle of 20 55Y 31") a distance of
11. 71 feet to a point in the East line of said First Street.
distant southerly thereon 11. 55 feet from the southerly line
of said East Fifty-Seventh Street.
For further particulars. and as a part hereof. reference is hereby
made to the Application for said Franchise dated May 13. 1958. and the
Division EngineerYs Drawing No. B-3449 accompanying said application.
SECTION 2:
The right, privilege and permission hereby granted
shall be exercised and enjoyed subject to the terms and conditions as set
forth in Ordinance No. 701 heretofore adopted by the City of Vernon. and the

1 accepta nee of this Franchise or any of the rights or privileges granted
2 hereby shall evidence the Granteets agreement to all of the terms and
3 conditions of said Ordinance No. 701.

SECTION 3:
Ordinance No. 295. and all ordinances or parts of
5 ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby repealed.

SECTION 4:
There being no newspaper printed, published and
circulated in the City of Vernon. the City Clerk is hereby directed to certify
to the passage of this Ordinance and shall post same. or cause same to be
posted. in three of the most public places in the City of Vernon, to wit:
the northwest corner of 38th Street and Santa Fe Avenue; the northeast
corner of Leonis Boulevard and Pacific Boulevard. and on the bulletin board
in the lobby of the City Hall of said City. located at 4305 Santa Fe Avenue,
13 all in the City of Vernon. Los Angeles County. California. That this
14 Ordinance shall be in full force and effect thirty (30) days from and after
15 the date of posting thereof.
