AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF VERNON GRANTING A FRANCHISE TO
LOS ANGELES & SALT LAKE RAILROAD COMPANY# A CORPORATION1
AND ITS LESSEE# UNION PACIFIC RAILROAD COMPANY1 A CORPORA-
TION# AND SOUTHERN PACIFIC COMPANY1 A CORPORATION# THEIR
SUCCESSORS AND ASSIGNS1 TO OPERATE AND MAINTAIN A SPUR TRACK
IN THE FIRST ALLEY EAST OF SANTA FE AVENUE AND ACROSS EAST
26TH. 27TH. 28TH AND 30TH STREETS IN THE CITY OF VERNON1 AND
REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES OR RESOLUTIONS IN CONFLICT HEREWITH
The City Council of the City of Vernon finds that Los Angeles &
Salt Lake Railroad Company. a corporation. Union Pacific Railroad Company.
a corporation. and Southern Pacific Company. a corporation. are steam
railroads engaged in interstate commerce.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF VERNON DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS
SECTION 1:
That a franchise be. and the same is hereby
granted to Los Angeles & Salt Lake Railroad Company. a corporation. and
its Lessee, Union Pacific Railroad Company. a corporation. and Southern
Pacific Company. a corporation. their successors and assigns. for a term
of fifty (50) years. to lay. construct. maintain. use and operate a railroad
spur track in the first alley east of Santa Fe Avenue and across East 26th.
27th. 28th and 30th Streets. in the City of Vernon. County of Los Angeles,
State of California. the center line of said spur track to be between the
points in the location described as follows:
IN FIRST ALLEY EAST OF SANTA FE AVENUE AND
ACROSS EAST 26TH STREET I EAST 27TH STREET 1#
EAST 28TH STREET AND EAST 30TH STREET
Beginning at the intersection of the north boundary line of
the City of Vernon and the center line of said alley; thence south-
erly in a straight line, a distance of 257.5 feet along the center
line of said alley and across said East 26th Street. 40 feet wide.
to a point on the south line of said East 26th Street. said point
being distant easterly thereon 147.5 feet from the east line of said
Santa Fe Avenue; thence continuing southerly across private prop-
erty to a point on the north line of said East 27th Street. 60 feet
wide, said point being distant easterly thereon 158.0 feet from the
east line of said Santa Fe Avenue; thence continuing southerly in
a straight line a distance of 1428.0 feet along the center line of
said alley across said East 27th Street. said East 28th Street and
said East 30th Street, to the north line of East 37th Street. 40
feet wide.

Beginning at a point on the center line of said alley.
distant northerly thereon 15.7 feet from the north line of
said East 26th Street; thence southeasterly 54.53 feet along
a 466.09 foot radius curve, concave northeasterly. to a
point on the south line of said East 26th Street. distant
easterly thereon 152.3 feet from the east line of said
Santa Fe Avenue.
IN FIRST ALLEY EAST OF SANTA FE AVENUE
AND ACROSS EAST 28TH STREET
Beginning at a point on the center line of said alley,
distant northerly thereon 0.3 feet from the north line of
said East 28th Street; thence southeasterly 48.75 feet
along a 341.60 foot radius curve. concave northeasterly;
thence tangent to said curve 21.03 feet to a point on the
easterly line of said alley distant southerly thereon 9.0
feet from the south line of said East 28th Street.
IN FIRST ALLEY EAST OF SANTA FE A VENUE
Beginning at a point on the center line of said alley,
distant southerly thereon 272.0 feet from the south line
of said East 28th Street; thence southeasterly 62.70 feet
along a 466.09 foot radius curve. concave northeasterly;
thence tangent to said curve 19.30 feet to a point on the
easterly line of said alley. distant northerly thereon 278.58
feet from the north line of said East 30th Street.
SECTION 2:
The right, privilege and permission hereby
19 I granted shall be exercised and enjoyed subject to the terms and conditions
20 as set forth in Ordinance No. 701 heretofore adopted by the City Council,
21 i and the acceptance of this franchise or any of the rights or privileges granted

22 herein shall evidence the Granteets agreement to all of the terms and con-

23 ditions of said Ordinance No. 701.
SECTION 3:
All ordinances and resolutions. or parts of
25 ordinances and resolutions. in conflict herewith are hereby repealed.

SECT ION 4:
There being no newspaper printed, published
and circulated in the City of Vernon. the City Clerk is hereby directed to
certify to the passage of this Ordinance and shall post same. or cause same
to be posted. in three of the most public places in the City of Vernon. to wit:
the northwest corner of 38th Street and Santa Fe Avenue; the northeast
corner of Leonis Boulevard and Pacific Boulevard. and on the bulletin board

1 in the lobby of the City Hall of said City. located at 4305 Santa Fe Avenue.
