ORDINANCE NO. 738
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF VERNON APPROVING THE ANNEXATION
OF CERTAIN UNINHABITED TERRITORY DESIGNATED "ATLANTIC
ANNEXATION NO. 1'1 TO THE CITY OF VERNON.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF VERNON ORDAINS AS FOLLOWS:
WHEREAS, on the 21st day of February, 1961, the Council of the
City of Vernon did pass and adopt Resolution No. 2411 giving notice of the
proposal to annex certain uninhabited territory to the City of Vernon, said
territory being therein designated as "Atlantic Annexation No.1", said
Resolution describing the boundaries of the territory proposed to be annexed;
and
WHEREAS, said Resolution No. 2411 did contain a notice of the
day, hour and place when and where the Council of the City would hear
protests made by any person owning real property within the territory
proposed to be annexed, the time of said hearing being not less than forty
nor more than sixty days from the date of passage of said Resolution; and
WHEREAS, on the 18th day of April, 1961, at the hour of 2:00
o'clock p. m., in the Council Chambers in the City Hall of the City of Vernon,
County of Los Angeles, State of California, said time and place being the
day, hour and place fixed in said Resolution No. 2411 for hearing protests
to the said annexation, no written protests having been filed and no person
personally appearing before the City Council protesting said annexation; and
WHEREAS, said territory is contiguous to the City of Vernon,
and is uninhabited territory in the County of Los Angeles;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED:
SECTION 1:
That the City Council of the City of Vernon
does hereby approve the annexation of the territory hereinafter described to
the City of Vernon, and does hereby further ordain that the said territory be
and is hereby annexed to the City of Vernon.
SECTION 2:
That said territory, the annexation of
which to the City of Vernon is herein approved, is all that territory situate

in the County of Los Angeles" State of California, more particularly
described as follows:
Beginning at the intersection of the northeasterly line of
the Los Angeles River, 500 feet wide" per map of Tract No. 5974
recorded in Book 69 at page 67 of Maps in the office of the Recorder
of Los Angeles County, California, with the easterly boundary of
the City of Vernon as it existed December 30, 1960; thence north-
easterly, southeasterly and northeasterly along said City of Vernon
boundary to a southwesterly corner of the boundary of the City of
Bell as it existed on December 30, 1960; thence southeasterly along
said boundary of the City of Bell to a line which is parallel with and
distant 588.00 feet measured at right angles southerly from the
northeasterly line of Lot 109 of Rancho Laguna per map filed as
Exhibit "A" in connection with the Referee's Report in Action No.
B-25296 of the Superior Court of the State of California in and for
the County of Los Angeles, recorded in Book 6387 at pages 1 to 94
of Deeds in the Office of the Recorder of said County; thence
southeasterly along the northeasterly line of that certain strip of
land 32 feet wide described in deed from Arcadia Bandini Baker
Estate Company to the County of Los Angeles for drainage purposes,
recorded May 31" 1928 in Book 7839, page 236, Official Records
of said County, to its intersection with a line which is parallel
with and distant 793.00 feet measured at right angles southerly
from the northeasterly line of said Lot 109" said line being the
northeasterly boundary line of the City of Bell as it existed on
December 30" 1960; thence northwesterly, southwesterly and
southeasterly along the boundary lines of the City of Bell as they
existed at said date to a point in the northeasterly line of Parcel
10 as shown on Licensed Surveyors Map filed in Book 24" page 33,
Records of Surveys, in the office of the Recorder of said County,
said point being 355.22 feet southeasterly along said northeasterly
line from the northwesterly terminus of that certain curve described
as having a radius of 6577.22 feet and an arc length of 2244.08 feet
in Parcel 2 of deed to the State of California recorded January 24,
1957 in Book 53458, pafte 311, Official Records of s aid County;
thence South 380 37' 05 1 West along the radial line to said curve
at said point, to an intersection with the southwesterly line of said
Parcel 10; thence southwesterly in a straight line to a point in the
southwesterly line of Lot 115 of said Rancho Laguna, which is the
intersection of said southwesterly line of Lot 115 with said north-
easterly line of the Los Angeles River; thence northwesterly along
said northeasterly line of the Los Angeles River to the point of
beginning.
SECTION 3:
There being no newspaper printed" published
and circulated in the City of Vernon" the City Clerk is hereby directed to
certify to the passage of this Ordinance and shall post same" or cause same
to be posted, in three of the most public places in the City of Vernon, to wit:
The northwest corner of 38th Street and Santa Fe Avenue; the northeast
corner of Leonis Boulevard and Pacific Boulevard; and on the bulletin
board in the lobby of the City Hall of said City, located at 4305 Santa Fe

1 Avenue, all in the City of Vernon, Los Angeles County, California; that
2 this ordinance shall be in full force and effect thirty (30) days from and
after the date of posting.
