Ordinance No. 741 1 2 3 41 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 20 21 22 23 24 25 26 27 28 29 30 I 31 32- 'I I I I . , - ORDINANCE NO. 741 AN ORDINANCE OF TIm CITY OF VERNON AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 740 :FIXING THE RATES TO BE CHARGED F'OR ELECTRICAL ENERGY DISTRIBUTED AND SUPPLIED BY THE SAID CITY OF VERNON WITHIN ITS BOUNDARIES. THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF VERNON DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: SECTION I The said City Council hereby finds that the immediate preservation of the public health and safety requires this ordinance to be passed as an urgency measure and as such shall take effect immediately upon the passage thereof by the City Council. The following is a declaration of the facts con- stituting the urgency. The City of Vernon is the owner of a retail electrical distribution system within its boundaries, which system has been and now is operated by Southern California Edison Company pursuant to a written agreement. Said agreement expires on December 31, 1961. Attempts to negotiate a further agreement with Southern California Edison Company have been unsuccessful and by letter dated December 19, 1961, Southern California Edison Company informed the Mayor and City Council of the City of Vernon that all previous offers of said company with respect to the operation of said electrical system were withdrawn, and that the most recent offer of the City of Vernon was unacceptable to Southern California Edison Company. It therefore appears that on, or shortly after, January 1, 1962, the City of Vernon will receive possession of said electrical distribution system. Said electrical distribution system and its orderly operation are vital to the health and safety of the City of Vernon, its inhabitants and the places of business therein. SECTION II In addition to the rates to be charged and collected, and the terms, provisions, conditions, rules and regulations respecting the distribution of electrical energy supplied by the 9, I City of Vernon on and after January 1, 1962, as established under the terms and provisions of Ordinance No. 740 which is hereby amended and supplemented, the rates to be charged and collected, and the terms, provisions, conditions, rules and regulations respecting the distribution of electrical energy supplied by the City of Vernon on and after January 1, 1962, for the type and kind of service described therein, shall be those rates, terms, provisions, conditions, rules and regulations set forth in that certain document entitled uSchedule A-7" filed with the City Clerk of the City of Vernon on January 16, 1962, the provisions of which are hereby incorporated by reference. SECCl'ION I I I The City Clerk of the City of Vernon is hereby directed to keep and maintain three (3) copies of the above-mentioned "Schedule A-7" in the office of the City Clerk of the City of Vernon, and make said sahedule available on request for examination in said office. SECTION IV All ordinances in conflict with Ordinance No. 740 and this Ordinance No. 741, are hereby repealed. SECTION V There being no newspaper printed, published, and circulated in the City of Vernon, the City Clerk is hereby -2- 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 20 21 22 23 24 25 26 27 28 29 30 I 31 32 I I !I !I II I I directed to certify to the passage of this Ordinance and shall post same, or cause same to be posted, in three of the most public places in the City of Vernon, to wit: the northwest corner of 38th Street and Santa Fe Avenue; the northeast corner of Leonis Boulevard and Pacific Boulevard; and on the bulletin board in the lobby of the City Hall of said City, located at 4305 Santa Fe Avenue, all in the City of Vernon, Los Angeles County, California; that this Ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after the date of posting.
