AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF VERNON REPEALING
ORDINANCE NO. 711 OF THE CITY OF VERNON, ESTABLISHING
RATES FOR THE SALE OF WATER IN SAID CITY AND REPEAL-
ING ALL ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT THEREWITH.

THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF VERNON DOES ORDAIN
AS FOLLOWS:
That the rates to be charged by the
Water Department of the City of Vernon, for the sale of water from its
municipal water plant for domestic, commercial, industrial, fire protection

4 inch meter
purposes, and standby service to be due and payable to the City monthly,
are hereby fixed as follows:
First 20,000 cubic feet per month,
For the next l80, 000 cubic feet per month,
For all over 200,000 cubic feet per month,
209 per 100 cubic feet

That the monthly consumption allowance
and the minimum charge to be charged to consumers of water from the
municipal plant shall be as follows:

SECTION 4:
That the rates to be established, which
shall be considered the minimum rate for connections to the water system
of the City of Vernon for fire protection purposes, shall be as follows:
Each person, firm or corporation having a
2-inch sprinkler connection,
3-inch sprinkler connection,
4-inch sprinkler connection,
6-inch sprinkler connection,
8-inch sprinkler connection,
lO-inch sprinkler connection,
Each hydrant connection,
$3.00 per month
6.00 per month
9.00 per month

SE CTION 5:
The Water Department of the City of
Vernon shall make a minimum charge of twenty-five dollars ($25. 00) for
each temporary installation for water service and $l5. 00 for each relo-
cation of said service.
The water furnished through said temporary connections shall
be charged at the rate of one and one-half (l-l/2) times the water rate set
forth in Section 1.
Before temporary water service is connected, the applicant for
such service shall deposit with the City Clerk in cash or a surety bond,
approved by the City the sum of five hundred dollars ($500. 00) for each
25 connection made. Said deposit and/ or bond deposited with the City is to

guarantee the payment of all water charged through said connections and
the return to the City Water Department in good condition, usual wear and
tear excepted, of all materials furnished by the City of Vernon in making
said connection, together with all labor costs in connection therewith.
SECTION 6:
That the rate to be charged by the City
of Vernon for the sale of water from its municipal plant to any person,

1 firm, or corporation conducting a retail water business shall be, and the
2 same is hereby fixed at 119 per 100 cubic feet. (For the definition of "retail

water business" see Section I of Rules and Regulations).
SECTION 7:
The applicable rates contained in this

Ordinance shall be effective for the first regular water meter reading for
monthly billing purposes, in the month of January, 1964.
SECTION 8:
That the charge for wat er and water service
9 for all classes of service not named in this Ordinance shall be based upon
10 charges contained herein as determined by the City Council.

SECTION 9:
That all ordinances and parts of ordinances
in conflict with this Ordinance be, and the same hereby are repealed. That
Ordinances Numbers 362, 384, 405, 471, 496, 559, 562, 684 and 711 are
specifically repealed.
SECTION 10:
If any Section, Subsection, sentence,
clause, phrase or word of this Ordinance is for any reason held to be void
or unconstitutional, such decision shall not affect the validity of the
remaining portions of this Ordinance, it being the intention of the City
Council of the City of Vernon to adopt and pass this ordinance, and each
Section, Subsection, soot ence, clause, or phrase thereof irrespective of
the fact that one or more of the Section s, Subsections, clauses, sentences
or phrases thereof may be declared void or unconstitutional.
SECTION 11:
That, there being no newspaper of general
circulation printed, published and circulated in the City of Vernon, the
City Clerk is hereby directed to certify to the passage of this Ordinance
and shall post same, or cause same to be posted, in three of the most public
places in said City, to wit: the northwest corner of 38th Street and Santa Fe
Avenue, the northeast corner of Leonis Boulevard and Pacific Boulevard
and on the bulletin board in the lobby of the City Hall of said City, located
