2 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF VERNON AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 710
OF SAID CITY.

4 THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF VERNON DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:

SECTION 1:
Ordinance No. 710 is hereby amended by
6 changing Section 28(a) to read as follows:
7 "For every person engaged in or carrying on the
S business of a peddler for the purpose of selling or offer-
9 ing for sale any goods" wares or merchandise" $60.00
10 per year.. or portion thereof" together with $60.00 per
11 year" or portion thereof" for each employee.
12 The first license for any newly established peddler
13 shall pay a license fee prorated upon the basis of
14 calendar quarters or fraction thereof remaining in the
15 current year.
16 All licenses for persons engaged in or carrying on
17 the business of a peddler shall be annual licenses only..
IS and no refunds shall be granted to any peddler that
19 terminates his business in the City of Vernon before the
20 expiration date of said license.
21 Any peddler business may be transferred from one
22 person to another during the calendar year without the
23 purchase of a new license for the unexpired portion of
24 the existing license" provided that all requirements of
25 city departments having jurisdiction are complied with. It

SECTION 2:
In all other respects said Ordinance No. 710
shall remain in full force and effect.

SECTION 3:
Effective date of this amendment shall be
January 1.. 1965.
SECTION 4:
All Ordinances or parts of Ordinances in con-
flict herewith are hereby repealed.

2 to the passage of this Ordinance and shall post same~ or cause same to be
3 posted.. in three of the most public places in the City of Vernon.. to wit: the
4 northwest corner of 38th Street and Santa Fe Avenue; the northeast corner of
5 Leonis Boulevard and Pacific Boulevard; and on the bulletin board in the lobby
6 of the City Hall of said City.. located at 4305 Santa Fe Avenue" all in the City
7 of Vernon.. Los Angeles County" California; that this Ordinance shall be in full
8 force and effect thirty (30) days from and after the date of posting thereof.

It is recommended that Ordinance No. 710 (Business
License Ordinance) be amended by changing licenses for peddlers,
which includes lunch trucks, from quarterly licenses to annual
licenses, effective January 1, 1965.
This would greatly slinplify the supervision and regu-
lation of peddlers, especially lunch trucks, by our department
and other departments having jurisdictione
Enclosed is a copy of a proposed ordinance amending
Ordinance No.7l0.
If the City Council concurs with this recommendation,
it is suggested that this ordinance be read for a 1st and 2nd
reading at the Council meeting to be held November 17, 1964 in
order that the effective date can be January 1, 1965.
