1 ORDINANCE NO. 767
2 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF VERNON REGARDING THE GRANTING OF
FRANCHISES IN SAID CITY.

4 WHEREAS~ the City Council is the designated agent of the legisla-
5 ture of the State of California in the matter of granting certain franchises or
6 privileges to any person or corporation desiring to exercise or enjoy any rights
7 in~ over I onl alongl and through the public highways of the City of Vernon; and
8 WHEREASI th e City Council desires to prescribe regulations for
9 all such activities intended to be carried on by any person or corporation in the
10 City of Vernon;
11 NOW, THEREFORE~ the City Council of the City of Vernon does
12 ordain as follows:

SECTION 1 :
Any person or corporationl except those grante
14 special privileges by law of the State of Californial desiring to make use of any
15 city street or city highway within the City of Vernon for the purpose of erecting
16 or installing therein or thereon any facility shall be required to obtain from
17 said city a franchise authorizing such use. Each such person or corporation
18 shall make application to the City Council of said city for the privilege or
19 franchise he desires to exercise or enjoy.

SECTION 2:
Every franchise or privilege whatsoever here-
after proposed to be granted by the City Council of the City of Vernon shall be
granted subject to the laws regulating the activity of the applicant therefor and
the laws granting the franchises or privileges by said City Councill and the
grantee of any such franchise or pr i vilege shall have the right as against all
persons to make use of the city streets and city highways as provided in the
franchise or privilege granted by said City Council to the full extent of the
lawful authority of the City of Vernon to permit such use.
SECTION 3:
All Ordinances or parts of Ordinances in conflic
herewith are hereby repealed.
SECTION 4:
There being no newspaper printed~ published
and circulated in the City of Vernonl the City Clerk is hereby directed to certif
to the passage of this Ordinance and shall post same~ or cause same to be

1 posted~ in three of the most public places in the City of Vernon. to wit: the
2 northwest corner of 38th Street and Santa Fe Avenue; the northeast corner of
3 Leonis Boulevard and Pacific Boulevard; and on the bulletin board in the lobby
4 of the City Hall of said City~ located at 4305 Santa Fe Avenue~ all in the City
5 of Vernonl Los Angeles County~ California; that this Ordinance shall be in full
6 force and effect thirty (30) days from and after the date of posting.
7 ADOPTED and APPROVED this 16th day of FebruarYI 1965.
