ORDINANCE NO. 768
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF VERNON RENEWING FRANCHISE GRANT
TO UNION PACIFIC RAILROAD COMPANY BY ORDINANCE NO. 130 OF SAID
CITY.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF VERNON DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1 :

That the Franchise granted by Ordinance No.
6 130 adopted June 23~ 1914~ as amended by Ordinance No. 706 adopted October
7 1~ 19571 is hereby renewed under the following conditions:
A. That said company is hereby granted a waiver of that portion
of City Ordinance No. 701 requiring the use of 128 lb. Trilby Rail
in street crossings and may substitute 131 or 133 lb. rail in street
crossings covered by this Ordinance. In all other respects~ City
Ordinance No. 701 is in full force and effect.
B. That the term of this Franchise shall be for the period of fifty
(50) years from and after the date of the adoption of this Ordinance.
SECTION 2:
The center line of the railroad tracts at the
16 crossings granted under this Franchise for the crossing of public streets in the
17 City of Vernon is particularly described as follows:

more or less~ from the easterly prolongation of the south-
erly line of Vernon Avenue; 50.00 feet wide; thence north-
westerly, along a curve~ concave southwesterly~ having
a radius of 478.34 feet. an are distance of 84.20 feet to
a point on the westerly line of Downey Road, distant
southerly thereon, 520. 00 feet~.. more or less, from the
southerly line of Vernon Avenue.
B. ACROSS ALCOA STREET:
Beginning at a point on the easterly line of Alcoa Street~
.50.00 feet wide~ distant southerly thereon. 305.00 feet
from the southerly line of Vernon Avenue~ 50.00 feet
wide; thence westerly in a direct line, 50. 00 feet~ to a
point on the westerly line of Alcoa Street~ distant south-
erly thereon~ 305.00 feet from the southerly line of
Vernon Avenue.
C. ACROSS BOYLE AVENUE:
Beginning at a point on the easterly line of Boyle Avenue~
50.00 feet wide~ distant southerly thereon~ 305.00 feet
from the southerly line of Vernon Avenue~ 50.00 feet

distance of 47.30 feet to Railroadsl engineering station
59+17.0 on the northerly line of Vernon Avenue. The
center line of said track intersecting the center line of
Vernon Avenue at a point distant westerly 899.88 feet
from the center line of Soto Street.
SECTION 3:
All Ordinances or parts of Ordinances in con-
10 flict herewith are hereby repealed.
SECTION 4:
There being no newspaper printed~ published
and circulated in the City of Vernonl the City Clerk is hereby directed to
certify to the passage of this Ordinance and shall post same~ or cause same to
be postedl in three of the most public places in the City of Vernonl to wit: the
northwest corner of 38th Street and Santa Fe Avenue; the northeast corner of
Leonis Boulevard and Pacific Boulevard; and on the bulletin board in the lobby
of the City Hall of said City, located at 4305 Santa Fe Avenue~ all in the City
of Vernonl Los Angeles County~ California; that this Ordinance shall be in
full force and effect thirty (30) days from and after the date of posting.
