AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF VERNON GRANTING A FRANCHISE TO TH
LOS ANGELES & SALT LAKE RAILROAD COMPANY.. A CORPORATION, AND
ITS LESSEE, UNION PACIFIC RAILROAD COMPANY, A CORPORATION, AND
THE ATCHISON, TOPEKA AND s...I\NTA FE RAILWAY COMPANY. A CORPOR
TION, THEIR SUCCESSORS AND ASSIGNS" TO OPERATE AND MAINTAIN A
SPUR TRACK ACROSS 26TH STREET IN THE CITY OF VERNON. AND REPE
ING ALL ORDINANCES OR RESOLUTIONS IN CONFLICT HEREWITH.
The City Council of the City of Vernon finds that the Los Angeles &
Salt Lake Railroad Company~ a corporation. Union Pacific Railroad Company..
a corporationl and the Atchison. Topeka and Santa Fe Railway Company~ a
corporation~ are railroads engaged in interstate commerce.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF VERNON DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1:
That a franchise be~ and the same is hereby
granted to the Los Angeles & Salt Lake Railroad Company~ a corporation and
its lessee, Union Pacific Railroad Company" a corporationl and the Atchisonl
Topeka. and Santa Fe Railroad Company~ a corporationl their successors and
assignsl for a term of fifty (50) years~ to lay~ construct~ maintain~ use and
operate a railroad spur track across 26th Street~ in the City of Vernon. Count
of Los Angeles~ State of California~ the center line of said spur track describe
as follows:
Beginning at a point on the northeasterly line of Twenty"
Sixth Street~ 60 feet wide~ distance northwesterly thereon
339.43 feet from the prolongation of the centerline of Bonnie
Beach Place, said point of beginning being a point in a
circular curve from which the center bears S 11018' 20" W~
461.73 feet; thence southwesterly along said curve an arc
distance of 165.99 feet to the southwesterly line of said
Twenty-Sixth Streetl distance northwesterly thereon 493.29
feet from the centerline of said Bonnie Beach Place.
SECTION 2:
The right~ privilege and permission hereby
granted shall be exercised and enjoyed subject to the terms and conditions as
set forth in Ordinance No. 701 heretofore adopted by the City of Vernon~ and
the acceptance of this Franchise or any of the rights or privileges granted
hereby shall evidence the Grantee's agreement to all of the terms and condi-
tions of said Ordinance No. 701 except that a waiver is hereby granted to that
portion of City Ordinance No. 701 requiring the use of 128 lb. Trilby Rail in
street crossing and authority is hereby granted to substitute 131 or 133 lb. rail
in street crossing covered by this Ordinance.

SECTION 3:
All Ordinances or parts of Ordinances in con-
2 flict herewith are hereby repealed.

SECTION 4:
There being no newspaper printed~ published
4 and circulated in the City of Vernon~ the City Clerk is hereby directed to certif
5 to the passage of this Ordinance and shall post same, or cause same to be
6 posted~ in three of the most public places in the City of Vernon~ to wit: the
7 northwest corner of 38th Street and Santa Fe Avenue; the northeast corner of
8 Leonis Boulevard and Pacific Boulevard; and on the bulletin board in the lobby
9 of the City Hall of said City.. located at 4305 Santa Fe Avenue~ all in the City
10 of Vernon~ Los Angeles County" California; that this Ordinance shall be in full
11 force and effect thirty (30) days from and after the date of posting.
