211AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF VERNON A~PROVING THE ANNEXATION OF
!CERTAIN UNINHABITED TERRITORY~ DESIGNATED lIPACKERS ISLAND
3 I ANNEXA TION" TO THE CITY OF VERNON.

4 I THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF VERNON ORDAINS AS FOLLOWS:
5 I WHEREAS" the City Council on November 16.. 1965 authorized the
6 I submission of an application to the Local Agency Formation Commission to initi-
7 late proceedings to annex certain uninhabited territory designated as HPackers
I
8 IIsland Annexation" to the City of Vernon. The application was transmitted to the
I
I
9 ILocal Agency Formation Commission on November 17.. 1965; and

10 ! WHEREAS... at its meeting of January 12, 1966,. the Local Agency
1
11 )Formatian Commission adopted an order approving the annexation of certain
I
lzluninhabited territory designated as "Packers Island Annexation" to the City of
I
13. jVernan subject to the condition that the County enter into a contract for certain
i
14 [work to be performed and subject to the revised legal description; and
I
15 i WHEREAS.. the City Council at its meeting held February I,. 1966

161adopted Resolution No. 2813 initiating on its own motion proceedings to annex
17 Icertain territory designated as lfpackers Island Annexation" and giving notice of
18 ltime and place for hearing of protests thereto; and
I
I
19 I WHEREAS,. on February 2,. 1966,. the City Clerk posted copies of
I
20 IResolution No. 2813 at the northwest corner of 38th Street and Santa Fe Avenue,
I
21 ,Iat the northeast corner of Leonis Boulevard and Pacific Boulevard.. and on the
22 bulletin board of the City Hall of the City of Vernon,. located at 4305 Santa Fe
-23 Avenue in said city,. there being no newspaper of general circulation printed and
24 published in the City of Vernon. The affidavit of said posting is on file in the
25 City Clerk's Office; and

WHEREAS,. in accordance with Section 35311, the City Clerk posted
27 copies of Resolution No. 2813 in conspicuous places in the territory proposed to
2~ 'be annexed and designated as uPackers Island Annexationrl. The affidavit of said
29 posting is on file in the City Clerkls Office; and

WHEREAS.. pursuant to Resolution No. 2813 as Bet forth above, the
Ihearing for protests was held on March 15" 1966, and at said hearing no objection

10 iVernon.. and does hereby further ordain that the said territory be and is hereby l:

11 iannexed to the City of Vernon, subject to the terms and conditions contained in the
12 :order approving annexation of certain uninhabited territory designated as "Packer
13. !Island Annexationu to the City of Vernon, which order was adopted by the Local I
WHEREAS, at a regular meeting of the City Council of the City of
NOW~ THEREFORE.. BE IT ORDAINED:
SECTION 1:
That the City Council of the City of Vernon does
14 [Agency Formation Commission on January 12.. 1966.

15 I SECTION 2: That said territory. the annexation of which to
16 ithe City of Vernon is herein approved., is all that territory situate in the County
17 of Los Angeles.. State of California.. more particularly described as follows:

Beginning at the northwest corner of lot 10 of 500 Acre
Tract Los Angeles Fruit Land Association.. as per map
of Tract No. 6056 filed in book 74 at page 33 of Maps in
the office of the Recorder of Los Angeles County"
California; said point being on the boundary of the City
of Vernon as it existed on November 1. 1965.. thence fol-
lowing said boundary in all its various courses to the
point of beginning.
SECTION 3:
There being no newspaper printed.. published
24 and circulated in the City of Vernon, the City Clerk is hereby directed to certify
25 to the passage of this Ordinance and shall post same, or cause same to be posted.,
~6 in three of the most public places in the City of Vernon, to wit: the northwest
27 corner of 38th Street and Santa Fe Avenue; the northeast corner of Leanis Boule-
28 vard and Pacific Boulevard; and on the bulletin board in the lobby of the City Hall
29 of said City,. located at 4305 Santa Fe Avenue" all in the City of Vernon.. Los
30 Angeles County.. California; that this Ordinance shall be in full force and effect
31 thirty (30) days from and after the date of final passage as set forth below.
