1 ORDINANCE NO. 852
2 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF VERNON PROVIDING FOR SALARY FOR MEM-
BERS OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF VERNON
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF VERNON DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOl^TS:
WHEREAS, the Government Code of the State of California
provides in ~ 36516 for salaries for the members of the City
Council; and
WHEREAS, the City of Vernon is a city with fewer than
35,000 people in population, and pursuant to Paragraph (a) of said
Government Code, the salary may be provided for by Ordinance up
to and including $150.00 per month;
IT IS ORDAINED AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1: That the City Council of the City of Vernon
does hereby determine and order that each member of the City Coun-
cil of the City of Vernon shall receive a salary of One Hundred
Fifty Dollars ($150.00) per month for their duties as members of
the City Council.
SECTION 2: That pursuant Government Code ~ 365l6.5, the
change in compensation provided for herein shall not apply to a
Councilman during his term in office; however, the City Council of
the City of Vernon finds that the terms of office are staggered
terms, and upon the occasion of anyone or more members of the
City Council of the City of Vernon becoming eligible for the

salary increase provided for in this Ordinance, said con~ensation
shall be adjusted for all members of said City Council and the
increase in salary provided for herein shall take full force and
effect upon said date.
SECTION 3: There being no newspaper printed, published
and circulated in the City of Vernon, the City Clerk is hereby
directed to certify to the passage of this Ordinance and shall
post the same or cause the same to be posted in three (3) of the
most public places in the City of Vernon, to wit: the northwest

corner of 38th Street and Santa Fe Avenue, the northeast corner of
Leonis Boulevard and Pacific Boulevard, and on the bulletin board
in the lobby of the City Hall of said City, located at 4305 Santa
Fe Avenue, all in the City of Vernon, County of Los Angeles, State
of California; that this Ordinance shall be in full force and
f.[fect thirty (30) days from and after said posting.
