ORDINANCE NO. 858
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF VERNON, AMENDING THE CODE OF THE CITY
OF VERNON, CALIFORNIA, 1959, BY AMENDING SEC. 19.1 OF SAID CODE
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF VERNON DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1: That Section 19.1 is hereby amended to read as
follows:
No person shall operate or cause to be operated any locomo-
tive or train consisting of a locomotive and one or more
railroad cars on, along, upon, over or across any public
street or highway within the city at a speed exceeding
twenty miles per hour.
Nothing in this section shall apply to a locomotive or train
consisting of a locomotive and one or more railroad cars
operated upon a right of way privately owned and maintained
for railroad purposes by any railroad company operating
within the city; provided, however, that no locomotive and
no train consisting of a locomotive and one or more railroad
cars shall be operated or caused to be operated over or
across public street crossings or highway crossings within
the city limits of the city at a speed exceeding twenty
miles per houro
SECTION 2: There being no newspaper printed, published and
circulated in the City of Vernon, the City Clerk is hereby directe
to certify to the passage of this Ordinance and shall post the
same or cause the same to be posted in three (3) of the most pub-
lic places in the City of Vernon, to wit: the northwest corner of
38th Street and Santa Fe Avenue, the northeast corner of Leonis
Boulevard and Pacific Boulevard, and on the bulletin board in the
lobby of the City Hall of said City, located at 4305 Santa Fe
Avenue, all in the City of Vernon, County of Los Angeles, State of
California; that this Ordinance shall be in full force and effect
thirty (30) days from and after said posting.
