ORDINANCE NO. 866
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF VERNON PROVIDING FOR THE CONFINEMENT
OF ITS PRISONERS IN THE COUNTY JAILS AND THE HOSPITALIZATION OF
ITS PRISONERS, WHERE NECESSARY..
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF VERNON DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
WHEREAS, the City of Vernon has in the past provided for
the confinement of its prisoners, being City prisoners, in the
County jails of the County of Los Angeles and has provided for
the hospitalization of City prisoners where necessary, and said
confinement and hospitalization have been by virtue of an agree-
ment, and
WHEREAS, the Board of Supervisors of the County of Los
Angeles wishes to terminate said agreement and has given the City
of Vernon 90 days written notice of cancellation of the same, and
WHEREAS, the City of Vernon desires to continue said
service by adopting this Ordinance,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED:
SECTION 1: The City Council of the City of Vernon by this
Ordinance agrees that the County of Los Angeles shall provide for
the confinement of its prisoners, being City prisoners, in the
County jails of the County of Los Angeles, and further, to provide
for the hospitalization in Los Angeles County facilities of City
prisoners where necessary, the same to be an expense of the City
of Vernon upon appropriate billing to the City of Vernon by the
County of Los Angeleso
SECTION 2: There being no newspaper of general circulation
printed, published and circulated in the City of Vernon, the City
Clerk is hereby directed to certify to the passage of this Ordi-
nance and shall post the same, or cause the same to be posted in
three (3) of the most public places in said City, to wit: the
northwest corner of 38th Street and Santa Fe Avenue; the northeast
corner of Leonis Boulevard and Pacific Boulevard; and on the
bulletin board in the lobby of the City Hall of said City~ located
