1 ORDINANCE NO. 880
2 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF VERNON PROVIDING FOR THE
LICENSING, IMPOUNDING, AND REGULATING THE KEEPING,
3 SALE AND EXHIBITION OF ANIMALS AND ADOPTING BY
REFERENCE THE ANIMAL CONTROL ORDINANCE OF THE COUNTY
4 OF LOS ANGELES, AS AMENDED JULY 1, 1977, AND EX-
PRESSLY REPEALING SECTIONS 3.3 THROUGH 3.l9 OF
5 CHAPTER 3 OF THE VERNON CITY CODE AND AMENDING
SECTIONS 3.1 AND 3.2 AND REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES
6 AND PARTS OF ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT THEREWITH
7 WHEREAS, Chapter 3 of the Vernon City Code provides for
8 the regulation of animals; and
9 WHEREAS, Section 50022.9 of the Government Code provides
10 that a city may enact ordinances which adopt by reference county
11 ordinances; and
12 WHEREAS, the Board of Supervisors of the County of Los
13 Angeles has adopted Ordinance No. 4729 entitled, "The Animal
14 Control Ordinance of the County of Los Angeles";
15 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
16 CITY OF VERNON as follows:

SECTION 1: Section 3.1 of the Vernon City Code is hereby
18 amended to read as follows:

"Sec. 3.1. Animal Control Ordinance-Adopted by Reference
The Animal Control Ordinance of the County of Los Angeles,
as amended July 1, 1977, except as may be amended in this
article, is hereby adopted as the Animal Control Ordinance
of the City."

SECTION 2: Section 3.2 of the Vernon City Code is hereby
24 amended to read as follows:

"Sec. 3.2. Animal Control Ordinance - Amendments

The Animal Control Ordinance (Los Angeles County Ordinance
No. 4729), as adopted by the City, is hereby amended as
follows: Wherever said ordinance provides that it shall
be applicable within the unincorporated areas of the
County of Los Angeles, such words 'unincorporated areas

of the County of Los Angeles' shall be deemed to mean
'corporate boundaries of the City of Vernon'."

SECTION 3: Sections 3.3 through 3.19, inclusive, of the
4 Vernon City Code are hereby repealed.

SECTION 4: There being no newspaper of general circula-
6 tion printed, published and circulated in the City of Vernon, the
7 City Clerk is hereby directed to certify to the passage of this
8 ordinance, and shall post the same, or cause the same to be posted,
9 in three of the most public places in said city, to wit: The
10 northwest corner of 38th Street and Santa Fe Avenue; the northeast
11 corner of Leonis Boulevard and Pacific Boulevard; and on the
12 bulletin board in the lobby of the City Hall of said city, located
13 at 4305 Santa Fe Avenue, all in the City of Vernon, Los Angeles
14 County, California.
