ORDINANCE NO. 881
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF VERNON GRANTING A FRANCHISE TO LOS
ANGELES & SALT LAKE RAILROAD COMPANY AND ITS LESSEE, UNION PACIFIC
RAILROAD COMPANY, UTAH CORPORATIONS AND THEIR SUCCESSORS AND
ASSIGNS, TO MAINTAIN AND OPERATE A SPUR TRACK ACROSS AND UPON
DOWNEY ROAD IN THE CITY OF VERNON, CALIFORNIA, AND REPEALING
ORDINANCE NO. 511
The City Council of the City of Vernon finds that Los
Angeles & Salt Lake Railroad Company and its lessee, Union Pacific
Railroad Company, Utah Corporations, are railroads engaged in
interstate commerce.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF VERNON DOES ORDAIN AS
FOLLOWS:
Section I: That a franchise be, and the same is hereby
granted to the Los Angeles & Salt Lake Railroad Company and its
lessee, Union Pacific Railroad Company, their successors and
assigns, for a term of fifty (50) years, to maintain, use and
operate a railroad spur track across Downey Road, in the City of
Vernon, County of Los Angeles, State of California, the center
line of said spur track is described as follows.
Beginning at a point on the center line of subject track,
said point being 71.0 feet southerly, as measured along the
westerly line of Downey Road, from the intersection of the
southerly line of Packers Avenue and the westerly line of
Downey Road; thence northeasterly along said center line on
a curve concave northwesterly and having a radius of 210.36
feet, an arc distance of 136.20 feet to a point in the
easterly line of Downey Road, said point being 36.29 feet
northerly from the intersection of said easterly line of
Downey Road with the easterly prolongation of said southerly
line of Packers Avenue.
25 Section 2: The right, privilege and permission hereby granted
26 shall be exercised and enjoyed subject to the terms and conditions
27 as set forth in Ordinances No. 701 and 796 heretofore adopted by
28 the City of Vernon, and the acceptance of the Franchise or any of
29 the rights or privileges granted hereby shall evidence the
30 Grantee's agreement to all of the terms and conditions of said
31 Ordinances No. 701 and 796 except that a waiver is hereby granted

128 lb. girder rail and a 131 lb. or better rail may be
City Ordinances No. 701 and 796 are in full force and effect.
Section 3: Ordinance No. 511, and all ordinances or parts
6 of ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby repealed.

Section 4: There being no newspaper printed, published and
8 circulated in the City of Vernon, the City Clerk is hereby direct-
9 ed to certify to the passage of this Ordinance and shall post
10 same, or cause same to be posted in three of the most public
11 places in the City of Vernon, to wit: the northwest corner of
12 38th Street and Santa Fe Avenue; the northeast corner of Leonis
13 Boulevard and Pacific Boulevard and on the bulletin board in the
14 lobby of the City Hall of said City, located at 4305 Santa Fe
15 Avenue, all in the City of Vernon, Los Angeles County, California;
16 that this ordinance shall be in full force and effect thirty (30)
17 days from and after the date of posting.
