ORDINANCE NO. 887
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF VERNON AMENDING
ORDINANCE NO. 880 PROVIDING FOR THE LICENSING,
IMPOUNDING, AND REGULATING THE KEEPING, SALE
AND EXHIBITION OF ANIMALS AND ADOPTING BY
REFERENCE THE AUGUST 15, 1978 AMENDMENTS TO
THE ANIMAL CONTROL ORDINANCE OF THE COUNTY
OF LOS ANGELES
WHEREAS, Chapter 3 of the Vernon City Code provides
for the regulation of animals; and
WHEREAS, Section 50022.9 of the Government Code provides
that a city may enact ordinances which adopt by reference county
ordinances; and
WHEREAS, the Board of Supervisors of the County of Los
Angeles has adopted Ordinance No. 4729 entitled, "The Animal
Control Ordinance of the County of Los Angeles"; and
WHEREAS, the Board of Supervisors of the City of Los
Angeles on August 15, 1978 adopted amendments to Ordinance No.
4729.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF VERNON AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1: Section 3.3 of the Vernon City Code is
hereby amended to read as follows:
"Sec. 3.3. Animal Control Ordinance-Adopted by Reference.
The amendments to 'the Animal Control Ordinance'
of the County of Los Angeles, adopted on August 15,
1978, are hereby adopted as amendments to the
Animal Control Ordinance of the City."
SECTION 2: The City Council of the City of Vernon
hereby declares that this ordinance is an urgency ordinance and
1 is necessary for the immediate preservation of the public peace,
2 health and safety.

SECTION 3: There being no newspaper of general circula-
4 tion printed, published and circulated in the City of Vernon, the
5 City Clerk is hereby directed to certify to the passage of this
6 ordinance, and shall post the same, or cause the same to be
7 posted, in three of the most public places in said City, to wit:
8 The northwest corner of 38th Street and Santa Fe Avenue; the
9 northeast corner of Leonis Boulevard and Pacific Boulevard; and
10 on the bulletin board in the lobby of the City Hall of said City,
11 located at 4305 Santa Fe Avenue, all in the City of Vernon, Los
12 Angeles County, California.
13 ADOPTED AND APPROVED this 5th day of September, 1978.
