AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF VERNON AMENDING
ORDINANCE NO. 887 PROVIDING FOR THE LICENSING,
IMPOUNDING AND REGULATING THE KEEPING, SALE
AND EXHIBITION OF ANIMALS AND ADOPTING BY
REFERENCE THE ANIMAL CONTROL ORDINANCE OF THE
COUNTY OF LOS ANGELES, AS AMENDED JUNE 19,
1979, AMENDING SECTION 3.3 AND REPEALING ALL
ORDINANCES AND PARTS OF ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT
THEREWITH

8 WHEREAS, Chapter 3 of the Vernon City Code provides
9 for the regulation of animals; and,
10 WHEREAS, ~50022.9 of the Government Code provides
11 that a city may enact ordinances which adopt by reference county
12 ordinances; and,
13 WHEREAS, the Board of Supervisors of the County of Los
14 Angeles has adopted Ordinance No. 4729 entitled, "The Animal
15 Control Ordinance of the County of Los Angeles"; and,
16 WHEREAS, the Board of Supervisors of the City of Los
17 Angeles on June 19, 1979 adopted amendments to Ordinance No.
18 4729; and,
19 WHEREAS, this ordinance is an urgency ordinance and
20 is necessary for the immediate preservation of the public peace,
21 health and safety.
22 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
23 CITY OF VERNON AS FOLLOWS:

SECTION 1: Section 3.3 of the Vernon City Code is
25 hereby amended to read as follows:

"Sec. 3.3. Animal Control Ordinance-Adopted by
27
Reference.

The amendments to the 'The Animal Control
1
Ordinance of the County of Los Angeles',
2
adopted on June 19, 1979, are hereby adopted
3
as amendments to the Animal Control Ordinance
4
of the City."

SECTION 2: The City Council of the City of Vernon hereby
6 declares that there exists an urgency in adopting said ordinance
7 and, therefore, this ordinance shall be effective immediately
8 upon the approval by a majority of the City Council of the City
9 of Vernon and thenceforth the same shall be in full force and
10 effect.

SECTION 3: There being no newspaper of general circula-
12 tion printed, published and circulated in the City of Vernon, the
13 City Clerk is hereby directed to certify to the passage of this
14 ordinance, and shall post the same, or cause the same to be
15 posted, in three of the most public places in said City, to wit:
16 the Northwest corner of 38th Street and Santa Fe Avenue; the
17 northeast corner of Leonis Boulevard and Pacific Boulevard; and
18 on the bulletin board in the lobby of the City Hall of said City,
19 located at 4305 Santa Fe Avenue, all in the City of Vernon, Los
20 Angeles County, California.
21 ADOPTED AND APPROVED this 17th day of July, 1979.
