AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF VERNON AMENDING THE CODE OF THE CITY OF
VERNON, CALIFORNIA 1959 BY AMENDING SECTION
7.9-16 OF SAID CODE, PRESCRIBING PENALTIES
FOR THE VIOLATION OF ANY PROVISION OF ORDINANCE
NO. 889 WHICH ADOPTED BY REFERENCE THE NATIONAL
ELECTRICAL CODE, 1978 EDITION, AND REPEALING
ALL ORDINANCES AND PARTS OF ORDINANCES IN
CONFLICT THEREWITH

8 WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Vernon adopted
9 Ordinance No. 889 on February 20, 1979; and
10 WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Vernon finds
11 it necessary to amend Section 7.9-16 in order to provide uniform
12 and consistent penalties for all violations of the National
13 Electrical Code, 1978 Edition, adopted by reference pursuant to
14 Ordinance No. 889.
15 NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF VERNON
16 DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:

SECTION 1: Section 7.9-16 is hereby amended to read

"Section 7.9-16. Penalty.
Any person, firm, or corporation violating
any of the provisions of this Article shall be
deemed guilty of a misdemeanor, and each such
person shall be deemed guilty of a separate
offense for each and every day or portion thereof
during which any violation of any of the pro-
visions of this Article is committed, continued,
or permitted, and upon conviction of any such
violation such person shall be punishable by a

fine of not more than $500 or by imprisonment

for not more than six (6) months, or by both
3
such fine and imprisonment."

SECTION 2: That any other ordinance or portion thereof
5 in conflict with this Ordinance, is hereby repealed.

SECTION 3: There being no newspaper printed, published
7 or circulated in the City of Vernon, the City Clerk is hereby
8 directed to certify to the passage of this Ordinance and shall
9 post the same, or cause the same to be posted, in three (3) of the
10 most public places in the City of Vernon, to wit: the northwest
11 corner of 38th Street and Santa Fe Avenue; the northeast corner
12 of Leonis Boulevard and Pacific Boulevard, and on the bulletin
13 board in the lobby of the City Hall of said City, located at 4305
14 Santa Fe Avenue, all in the City of Vernon, County of Los Angeles,
15 State of California; that this Ordinance shall be in full force
16 and effect thirty (30) days from and after the final passage of
17 the same.
