ORDINANCE NO. 910
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF VERNON AMENDING THE CODE OF THE CITY OF
VERNON, CALIFORNIA 1959, BY ADDING SECTION
2.10-1 TO CHAPTER 2, ARTICLE III, TO ESTABLISH
A CLAIMS PROCEDURE FOR THE FILING OF CLAIMS BY
CITY EMPLOYEES AND REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES
AND PARTS OF ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT THEREWITH
WHEREAS, Chapter 2, Article III of the Code of the City
of Vernon, California 1959 provides for procedures in reference
to claims and demands against the City of Vernon in accordance
with Ordinance No. 700 adopted by the City Council of the City
of Vernon on May 7, 1957; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Vernon wishes
to establish a claims procedure for the filing of claims by City
employees.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF VERNON AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1: The City Council of the City of Vernon
hereby finds and determines that the recitals contained herein-
above are true and correct.
SECTION 2: That Section 2.10-1 is hereby added to
Chapter 2, Article III of the Code of the City of Vernon, Cali-
fornia 1959 and shall read as follows:
"Sec. 2.10-1. Employee Claims: Procedures.
(a) All claims for money or damages against the
City shall be presented within the time
limitations and in the manner prescribed by
Chapter 1 of Division 36 of the Government

Code of the State of California, commencing
with ~900 and following.
(b) As a pre-requisite to bringing suit
against the City of Vernon, any claims against
the City for money including any claims presented
by or on behalf of City employees, shall be
presented and acted upon in accordance with
Title 1, Division 3.3, Part 3, Chapter 1
(commencing with ~900) and Chapter 2 (commencing
with ~9l0), of the Government Code of California."
SECTION 3:
That any ordinance or portion thereof in
conflict with this Ordinance is hereby repealed.
SECTION 4: There being no newspaper of general
circulation printed, published and circulated in the City of
Vernon, the City Clerk is hereby directed to certify to the
passage of this Ordinance, and shall post the same, or cause the
same to be posted, in three of the most public places in said
City, to wit:
the northwest corner of 38th Street and Santa Fe
Avenue; the northeast corner of Leonis Boulevard and Pacific
Boulevard; and on the bulletin board in the lobby of the City
Hall of said City, located at 4305 Santa Fe Avenue, all in the
City of Vernon, Los Angeles County, California.
