ORDINANCE NO. 943
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF VERNON AMENDING THE CODE OF THE CITY OF
VERNON, CALIFORNIA 1959 BY ADDING A NEW
SECTION 15.34 TO SAID CODE REGARDING LICENSES
FOR THE PURPOSE OF REVENUE AND REGULATION OF
CERTAIN KINDS OF BUSINESSES AUTHORIZED BY
LAW AND CARRIED ON IN THE CITY OF VERNON AND
REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES OR PARTS OF
ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT THEREWITH
WHEREAS, Bruce V. Malkenhorst, City Administrator/City
Clerk, by letter dated November 30, 1983, has recommended that
the Business License Ordinance be amended to include a business
license fee for mini storage warehouses; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Vernon finds
it necessary to add a new Section 15.34 to the Code of the City
of Vernon, California 1959 to provide for a business license fee
per rental unit in accordance with the recommendation of the
City Administrator/City Clerk.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF VERNON AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1: The City Council of the City of Vernon
20 hereby finds and determines that the recitals contained herein-
21 above are true and correct.

SECTION 2: That the Citv Council of the City of Vernon
23 hereby adds a new Section 15.34 to the Code of the City of Vernon,
24 California 1959 to read as follows:

Sec. 15.34. Warehousing Fee.
(a) For every person engaged in or carrying on
27 the business of warehousing and where said warehouse activity
28 is not performed in conjunction with a manufacturing business

1 located in the City of Vernon, the fee per unit shall be
2 established by resolution where said unit is equal to 200 square
3 feet or less.
4 (b) An additional fee per square foot in addition
5 to the basic fee shall be established by resolution for all
6 units in excess of 200 square feet up to a maximum fee.
7 SECTION 3: That any ordinance or parts of ordinances
8 in conflict with this Ordinance are hereby repealed.
9 SECTION 4: If any section, subsection, sentence,
10 clause, or phrase or word of this Ordinance is for any reasonhel
11 to be void or unconstitutional, such decision shall not affect
12 the validity of the remaining portions of this Ordinance; it
13 being the intention of the City Council of the City of Vernon to
14 adopt and pass this Ordinance and each section, subsection,
15 sentence, clause or phrase thereof irrespective of the fact that
16 one or more of the sections, subsections, clauses, sentences or
17 phrases thereof may be declared void or unconstitutional.
18 SECTION 5: That in accordance with Section 36937 of
19 the Government Code, this Ordinance shall take effect upon
20 posting.
21 SECTION 6: There being no newspaper printed, published
22 or circulated in the City of Vernon, the City Clerk is hereby
23 directed to certify to the passage of this Ordinance and shall
24 post the same, or cause the same to be posted, in three (3) of
25 the most public places in the City of Vernon, to wit: the
26 northwest corner of 38th Street and Santa Fe Avenue, the
27 northeast corner of Leonis Boulevard and Pacific Boulevard, and
28 on the bulletin board in the lobby of the City Hall of said City,

1 located at 4305 Santa Fe Avenue, all in the City of Vernon,
2 County of Los Angeles, State of California; that this Ordinance
3 shall take effect immediately upon posting of the same.
