ORDINANCE NO. 948
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
3 OF VERNON AMENDING THE CODE OF THE CITY OF
VERNON, CALIFORNIA 1959 BY ADDING SECTION
4 7.92-1 TO SAID CODE REGARDING THE ESTABLISHMENT
OF A VARIANCE FEE AND REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES
5 OR PARTS OF ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT THEREWITH
6 WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Vernon adopted
7 Ordinance No. 903 on December 4, 1980, which provided for
8 liability and variances and prescribing penalties for the
9 violation of any provision of Ordinance Nos. 899, 901, 902, 903
10 and 904 which adopated by reference the Uniform Building Code,
11 1979 Edition, the Uniform Mechanical Code, 1979 Edition, the
12 Uniform Plumbing Code, 1979 Edition, the Uniform Fire Code,
13 1979 Edition; and
14 WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Vernon finds
15 it necessary to add Section 7.92-1 to the Code of the City of
16 Vernon, California 1959 to provide for the establishment of a
17 variance filing fee to be set by resolution.
18 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
19 THE CITY OF VERNON AS FOLLOWS:

SECTION 1:
The City Council of the City of Vernon
21 hereby finds and determines that the recitals contained herein-
22 above are true and correct.

SECTION 2: That the City Council of the City of Vernon
24 hereby adds Section 7.92-1 to the Code of the City of Vernon,
25 California 1959 as follows:

Sec. 7.92-1. Variance Filing Fee.
27 Any applicant for a permit seeking a variance or
28 exception from the requirements of the Uniform Building Code,

Uniform Mechanical Code, Uniform Plumbing Code, and Uniform
Fire Code, or any other ordinance of the City of Vernon relating
to building construction, drainage, street frontage requirements,
health or fire requirements shall pay a processing fee at the
time of submittal of said request which shall be established
by resolution.
SECTION 3: That any ordinance or parts of ordinances
in conflict with this Ordinance are hereby repealed.
SECTION 4: If any section, subsection, sentence,
clause, or phrase or word of this Ordinance is for any reason
held to be void or unconstitutional, such decision shall not
affect the validity of the remaining portions of this Ordinance;
it being the intention of the City Council of the City of Vernon
to adopt and pass this Ordinance and each section, subsection,
sentence, clause or prhase thereof irrespective of the fact that
one or more of the sections, subsections, clauses, sentences or
phrases thereof may be declared void or unconstitutional.
SECTION 5: There being no newspaper printed, published
or circulated in the City of Vernon, the City Clerk is hereby
directed to certify to the passage of this Ordinance and shall
post the same, or cause the same to be posted, in three (3) of
the most public places in the City of Vernon, to wit: the
northwest corner of 38th Street and Santa Fe Avenue, the
northeast corner of Leonis Boulevard and Pacific Boulevard, and
on the bulletin board in the lobby of the City Hall of said City,
located at 4305 Santa Fe Avenue, all in the City of Vernon,

I County of Los Angeles, state of California; that this Ordinance
2 shall be in full force and effect thirty (30) days from and
3 after the passage of the same.
