AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF VERNON DECLARING THE NEED FOR A
REDEVELOPMENT AGENCY IN THE CITY OF VERNON
AND DECLARING THE CITY COUNCIL TO BE THE
AGEI\ICY

WI'iEREAS,
Section 33100 of the Community Redevelopment
6 Law (Health & Safety Code Sections 33000, ~t ~~g~) created in the
7 City 0+ Vernon a public body corporate and politic for the
8 purpose of exercising the powers granted by the Community
9
Redevelopment Law,

pursuant to Section 33101

that said public body corporate and politic shall not
11 transact any business or exercise any powers unless by ordinance.
12 The City Council of the City of Vernon declares there is a need
14
13 for such agency to function; and
WHEREAS,
Section 33101 of the Community Redevelopment
15 Law provides that the provisions for redevelopment provided by
16 said Law shall not become operative in any community until the
17 legislative body of the community declares by ordinance that
19
18 there is need for a Redevelopment Agency to function.

THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF VERNON DOES ORDAIN AS

It is hereby found and declared pursuant to
22 Section 33101 of the Community Redevelopment Law, that there is a

23 need for the Redevelopment Agency created by Section 33100 0+
said Law to function in the City of Vernon,
and said Agency is
25 hereby authorized to transact business and exercise its powers
27
26 under the Community Redevelopment Law.

powers, duties, privileges and
immunities vested by the Community Redevelopment Law in said
agency shall be,

The City Council hereby appoints the Mayor
as Chairman 0+ said Aqency;
the Mayor Pro Tempore as Vice-
Chairman of said Agency,
to perform the duties of the Chairman
during his absence or disability;
and the terms to be served by
the members of said Agency shall correspond to the terms so
served as members of the City Council.

That any ordinance or parts of ordinances
In conflict with this ordinance are hereby repealed.

It being the intention of the City Council of the City of Vernon
to adopt and pass this ordinance and each section,

clause or phrase thereof irrespective of the fact that
one or more of the sections,

clauses, sentences or
phrases thereof may be declared void or unconstitutional.

directed to certify to the passage of this ordinance and shall
