ORDINANCE NO. 980
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF VERNON ACCEPTING THE REQUIREMENTS
OF SECTIONS 13522 AND 13525 OF THE PENAL
CODE RELATING TO TRAINING OF PUBLIC
SAFETY DISPATCHERS
WHEREAS, by Ordinance No. 742 adopted September 18,
1962, the City of Vernon accepted the requirements of section
13522 of the Penal Code of the State of California relating to

training of law enforcement officers; and

WHEREAS, Section 13525 has been added to the Penal
10
Code to supplement section 13522 in order to provide state aid
11

"for the training of regularly employed and paid local public
safety dispatchers," for which the Commission on Peace Officer
Standards and Training has requested that a separate ordinance
be adopted for implementation.

THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF VERNON HEREBY ORDAINS:

SECTION 1:

determines that the foregoing recitals are

that it desires to qualify to receive aid from the State of

California under the provisions of Chapter 1 of Title 4, Part
4 of the California Penal Code for training of public safety
dispatchers.
SECTION 3:
Enactment.
Pursuant to sections 13522
and 13525 of said Chapter 1, the City of Vernon, while receiv-
ing aid from the State of California will adhere to the stand-
ards for recruitment and training of public safety dispatchers

1 established as minimums by the California Commission on Peace
2 Officer Standards and Training. Nothing contained in this Or-
3 dinance shall be deemed to limit the City of Vernon from es-
4 tablishing or maintaining more stringent or additional stand-
5 ards beyond those established as minimums by the California
6 Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training.

SECTION 4:
Notice.
There being no newspaper
8 printed, published and circulated in the City of Vernon, the
9 City Clerk is hereby directed to certify to the passage of
10 this Ordinance and shall post the same, or cause same to be
11 posted, in three (3) of the most public places in the City of
12 Vernon, to wit: the northwest corner of 38th Street and Santa
13 Fe Avenue, the northeast corner of Leonis Boulevard and
14 Pacific Boulevard, and on the bulletin board in the lobby of
15 the City Hall of said City, located at 4305 Santa Fe avenue,
16 all in the City of Vernon, County of Los Angeles, State of
17 California.

SECTION 5:
Conflicts: Any ordinance or resolution
19 or parts thereof that are found to be in conflict with this
20 ordinance are hereby superseded and shall have no further
21 force or effect.
