AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
3 VERNON AMENDING THE CODE OF THE CITY OF VERNON,
CALIFORNIA, 1959, BY AMENDING SECTION 2.1 OF SAID
4 CODE REGARDING CITY COUNCIL MEETINGS AND REPEALING
ALL ORDINANCES OR PARTS OF ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT
5 THEREWITH

7 WHEREAS, the City Council has the authority pursuant to
8 Section 3.10 of Article III of the Charter of the City of Vernon to
9 establish the time and place of City Council meetings; and
10 WHEREAS, Section 2.1 of the Code of the City of Vernon,
11 California, 1959 (hereinafter "Code"), presently provides for the time
12 and place of Council meetings; and
13 WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Vernon desires to
14 establish a new time and place for City Council meetings.
15 THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF VERNON HEREBY ORDAINS:
16 SECTION 1: The City Council of the City of Vernon hereby
17 finds and determines that the recitals contained hereinabove are true
18 and correct.
19 SECTION 2: The City Council of the City of Vernon hereby
20 amends Chapter 2, Article 1 of the Code by amending Section 2.1 to
21 read as follows:
22 Sec. 2.1. Time and Place of Council Meetings.
23 The regular meetings of the City Council of the City of
24 Vernon shall be held in the City Council Chamber at the City Hall
25 located at 4305 Santa Fe Avenue in the City of Vernon, California on
26 the first (lst) and third (3rd) Monday of each month at the hour of
27 10:00 a.m.- If said regular meetings are scheduled on a recognized
28 holiday, said meetings shall then take place on the next day
1 thereafter, at the same time and place.
2 SECTION 3: Any ordinance or parts of ordinances in conflict
3 with this Ordinance are hereby repealed, specifically those portions
4 of Ordinance No. 1081 that are in conflict.
5 SECTION 4: If any section, subsection, sentence, clause,
6 phrase or word of this Ordinance is for any reason held to be void or
7 unconstitutional, such decision shall not affect the validity of the
8 remaining portions of this Ordinance; it being the intention of the
9 City Council of the City of Vernon to pass and adopt this Ordinance
10 and each section, subsection, sentence, clause or phrase thereof
11 irrespective of the fact that one or more of the sections,
12 subsections, clauses, sentences or phrases thereof may be declared to
13 be invalid or unconstitutional.
14 SECTION 5: There being no newspaper printed, published or
15 circulated in the City of Vernon, the City Clerk is hereby directed to
16 certify to the passage of this Ordinance and shall post the same, or
17 cause the same to be posted, within fifteen (15) days after its
18 passage in accordance with Section 36933 of the Government Code, as
19 well as Vernon Code Sections 1.9 and 1.10, in three (3) of the most
20 public places in the City of Vernon, to wit: the northwest corner of
21 38th Street and Santa Fe Avenue, the northeast corner of Leonis
22 Boulevard and Pacific Boulevard, and on the bulletin board located
23 outside on the wall near the second floor entrance to the City Hall of
24 said City, located at 4305 Santa Fe Avenue, all in the City of Vernon,
25 County of Los Angeles, State of California.

1 SECTION 6: This Ordinance shall be in full force and effect
2 thirty (30) days from and after its passage of the same.
