ORDINANCE NO. 1149
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
VERNON AMENDING THE CODE OF THE CITY OF VERNON,
CALIFORNIA, 1959, BY AMENDING SECTION 2.1 AND
DELETING SECTION 2.5-4 OF CHAPTER 2, ARTICLE I,
ADMINISTRATION
WHEREAS, the City of Vernon (the "City") is a municipal
corporation and a chartered city of the State of California organized
and existing under its Charter and the Constitution of the State of
California; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City has the authority
pursuant to Section 3.10 of Article III of the Charter of the City to
establish the time and place of City Council meetings; and
WHEREAS, Section 2.1 of the Code of :the City of Vernon,
California, 1959 (hereinafter "Code"), presently provides for the time
and place of Council meetings; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City desires to establish a
new time and place for City Council meetings; and
WHEREAS, Section 2.5-4 of the Code presently provides for the
time and place of Finance Committee meetings; and
WHEREAS, it is the desire of the City Council of the City to
eliminate meetings of the Finance Committee of the City of Vernon.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF VERNON HEREBY ORDAINS:
SECTION 1: The City Council of the City of Vernon
hereby finds and determines that the recitals contained hereinabove
are true and correct.
SECTION 2: Section 2.5-4 of the Code, is hereby deleted in
its entirety.
SECTION 3: The City Council of the City of Vernon hereby

�lamends Chapter 2, Article 1 of the Code by amending Section 2.1 to read
Has follows:
Sec. 2.1. Time and Place of Council Meetings.
The regular meetings of the City Council of the City of
Vernon shall be held in the City Council Chamber at the City Hall
located at 4305 Santa Fe Avenue in the City of Vernon, California on
every Monday of each month at the hour of 10:00 a.m. If said regular
meetings are scheduled on a recognized holiday, said meetings shall be
cancelled for that week and take place on the next regularly scheduled
Monday, at the same time and place.
SECTION 4: Any ordinance or parts of ordinances in conflict
with this Ordinance are hereby repealed.
SECTION 5: If any section, subsection, sentence, clause,
phrase or word of this Ordinance is for any reason held to be void or
unconstitutional, such decision shall not affect the validity of the
remaining portions of this Ordinance; it being the intention of the
City Council of the City of Vernon to pass and adopt this Ordinance
and each section, subsection, sentence, clause or phrase thereof
irrespective of the fact that one or more of the sections,
subsections, clauses, sentences or phrases thereof may be declared to
be invalid or unconstitutional.
SECTION 6: There being no newspaper printed, published or
circulated in the City of Vernon, the City Clerk is hereby directed to
certify to the passage of this Ordinance and shall post the same, or
cause the same to be posted, within fifteen (15) days after its
passage in accordance with Section 36933 of the Government Code, as
well as Vernon Code Sections 1.9 and 1.10, in three (3) of the most
public places in the City of Vernon, to wit: the northwest corner of

38th Street and Santa Fe Avenue, the northeast corner of Leonis
Boulevard and Pacific Boulevard, and on the bulletin board located
outside on the wall near the second floor entrance to the City Hall of,
said City, located at 4305 Santa Fe Avenue, all in the City of Vernon,
County of Los Angeles, State of California.
SECTION 7: This Ordinance shall be in full force and effect
thirty (30) days from and after its passage of the same.
