Resolution No. 156.5 .. K ~ \. \ ~ , Public Notice, is ~reby given that on .sday, October 2nd, 1917, the Board of Trustees of the City of Vernon, California, did, at this meeting on said day, adopt a Resolution of Intention No. 156~ in words and figures as follows: RESOLUTION OF INTENTION No, 156% The Board of Trustees of the City of Vernon do resolve as foJiows: SECTION 1. That the public interest and convenience require, and it is the intention of the Board of Trustees of the City at Vernon, State of California, to order the following improvements t(, be made in said City, to-wit: FIRST: That all of the roadway of East Thirty-seventh Street from the easterly line of Santa Fe Avenue to the westerly line of Boyle Avenue, including all intersections of streets and alleys (except such portions of East Thirty-seventh Street as are required by law to be kept in order or repair by any person or company having railroad tracks thereon), be graded to the official grade, and paved with asphalt, concrete pavement on a cement, concrete base in accordance with Plans No, 142, adopted by said Board of 'l'rustees, and on me in the office of the City Engineer, and in further accordance with Specifications No. 14, adopted hy said Board of Trustees, and on file in the office of the City Clerk, SECOND: That a cement curh he constructed along each side of the roadway of said Bast Thirty-seventh Street from the easterly line or Santa Fe Avenue to the westerly line of Boyle Avenue (except such portions of East Thirty-seventh Street as are required by law to be kept in order or repair hy any person or company having l'ailroad tracks thereon), in accordance with said Plans No. 142, and in accordance with Specifications No, 9, adopted hy said Board, and on file in the office of the said City Clerk. THIRD: That a cement gutter, one foot in width, be construeted along each side of the roadway of said East Thirty-seventh Street from the easterly line of Santa Fe Avenue to the westerly line of Boyle Avenue (except such portions of East Thirty-seventh street as are reQuired by law to he kept in order or repair hy any person or eompany having railroad traeks thereon\ in accordance with said Plans No. 142, and in accordance with Specifications No. 10, adopted by said Board and on file in the office of said City Clerk. FOURTH: That at a point in said East Thirty-seventh Street 1314 feet easterly from the east line of Santa Fe Avenue, a cement C'oncrete culvert with a corrugated iron top, together with two catch basins be constructed from the north line to the south line of baid East Thirty-seventh Street (excepting such portions of East Thirty-seventh Street as are required by law to be kept in order or repair by any person or company having railroad tracks thereon), in accordance with Plans No. 142-B adopted hy said Board of Trustees and on file in the office of the City Engineer, FIF'l'H: That a re-inforced concrete and vitrified pipe storm dn-in he constructed along a line running from the southerly line of said East Thirty-seventh Street to the northerly line of Vernon A verme, said line running as follows: beginning at a point on the south- erly line of said East Thirty-seventh Street 282.10 feet westerly from the northeast corner of IJot 3. Tract No. 3058, as per map recorded in Book 31, page 50 of Maps, Records of Los Angeles County, California, them'e southerly 0 degrees 10 minutes west to the north l~ne of Vernon Avenue, together with five clean-out basins, in accordance with Specifications herctofore adopted for doing said work and now on file in the office of the City Clerk, and in further accordance with said plans K 0, 142 B. SECTION 2, That the said contemplated work or improvement, in the opinion of said Board of Trustees, is of more than local or ordinary public benefit, and said Board of Trustees hereby declares that the distriet in said City of Vernon to be henefited by said work or improvement and to be assessed to pay the costs and expenses therfof, is described as follows: All that portion of the City of Vernon included within the following described exterior, boundary line, to-wit: Beginning at the southwest corner of Lot A, Tract No, 2688, as per map recorded in Book 30, Page 36 of Maps, Records of Los Angeles County, California; thence easterly along the southerly line of said Lot A, to the southeast corner thereof; thence easterly in a direct line to the southwest corner of Lot 3, Tract ~o, 3058, as per map recorded in Book 31, Page 50 of ,!\Iaps, Records of said Los Angeles County; thence easterly along the southerly line of said Lot 3, 600.06 feet; thence southerly 0 degrees 10 minutes west to the northerly line of V ernon Avenue; thence easterly along the northerly line of Vernon A venue five feet; thence northerly 0 degrees 10 min- utes east to the southerly line of said Lot 3, Tract No. 3058: thence easterly along the southerly liIw of said IJot 3, Tract No. 3058 and the prolongation easterly of the same to its intersection with the west line of Lot 2, Tract No. 2455, as per map recorded in Book 32, Pages 47 and 48 of Maps, ltceords of said 1Jos Angeles County; thell(~e easterly along a line parallel with the southerly line of said Easterly Thirty- seventh Street to the westerly line of Boyle Avenue; thence northerly along the westerly line of Boyle Avenue to the Northeast corner of said Lot 2, Tract No. 2455; thence northerly in a direct line to the southeast corner of Lot 1, Tract No. 2455; thence northerly along the westerly line of Boyle A venue 300 feet; thence westerly along a line parallel with the northerly line of said East Thirty-seventh Street to the westerly line of said Lot 1, Tract No. 2455; thence northerly' along the said westerly line of said Lot 1, 'rract No. 2455; 400.28 feet to a two-inch iron pipe; thence on a curve to the left which has a radius of 367.76 feet, 79.22 feet to a two-inch iron pipe; thence north 10 51' 35" west to the prolongation easterly of the north line of Lot 13, Block }<" of the Day Star Tract as per map recorded in Book 25, Page 66, Miscellaneous Records of said Los Angeles County; thence westerly in a direct line to the northeast corner of said })ot 13; thence westerly in a direct line to the easterly line of Santa 'B'e A venue; theme southerly along the said east line of Santa Fe Avenue to the place of beginning; excepting therefrom any portion of any public street or alley; all as shown on Map No. 142 C, ap- proved by the Board of Trustees on the 2nd day of October, 1917, and on file in the office of the City Engineer, to which said map refer- nee is hereby made for a more complete and detailed description of said district. SECTION 3, The Board of Trustees of the City of Vernon determine that serial bonds shall be issued to represent assessments of 'i'w ty-five ($25.00) Dollars or over for the cost of said work or improvement; said serial bonds shall extend over a period ending nine ('9) years from and after the second day of January next succeeding the date of said bonds, and an even annual proportion of the prin- cipal sum thereof shall be payable, by coupon, on the second day of ,January, every year after their date and until the whole is paid; and the interest shall be payable semi-annually, by coupon, on thesecond days of January and July, respectively, of each year, at the rate of 7% per annum on all sums unpaid. until the whole of said principal and interest are paid, Said bonds shall be issued in accord- ance with the provisions of an Act of Legislature of the State of California, entitled" An Act to provide a system of street improvement hands to represent certain assessments for the cost of street work aad improvements within municipalities, and also for the payment of such bonds," approved February 27th, 1893, and of all acts supplementary thereto Or amendatory thereof. SECTION 4. That the City Engineer shall make a diagram of the property affected or benefited by the proposed work or improve- ent, as hereinbefore described, and to be assessed to pay the expenses thereof. Such diagram shall show each separate lot, piece or pa_~el Qfland, the area in squarel'e~t()teaeh of s~i_dJot~, pieces ol'parcels of land, and the relative location of the same to the work proposed to be done, all within the limits of the assessment district. SECTION 5. It is further resolved that there is no newspaper printed or circulated in said City of Vernon. SECTION 6, The Street Superintendent of said City of Vernon is hereby directed to post notices of the passage of this resolution along the streets and parts of streets, or other public places and rights-of-ways where any work is to be done or improvements made in the manner and in the form required by law, and to cause similar noice to he posted in three of the most public places in the said City of Vernon, to-wit: One at the northwest corner of Santa Fe Avenue and Thirty-seventh Street; another at the Northwest corner of Santa Fe Avenue and Thirty-eighth Street, and another on or near the chamber door of the Board of Trustees. SECTION 7. The City Clerk of the said City of Vernon is hereby directed to post this resolution of intention conspicuously for two nays on, or near the chamber door of the Board of Trustees, and to CFuse a copy of same to be posted in three of the most public places in the City of Vernon, to-wit: One at the Northwest corner of Santa Fe Avenue and Thirty-seventh Street; another at the Northwest corner of Santa Fe Avenue and Thirty-eighth Street; and another at the front door of the City Hall. SECTION 8. All of the proposed work is to be done in pursuance of an act of Legislature of the State of California, entitled, "An Act to provide for work upon streets, lanes, alleys, courts, places all(~ sidewalks, and for the construction of sewers within municipali- ties," approved March 18, 1885, and the sevE;ral acts amendatory thereof or supplementary thereto, Adopted and approved this 2nd day of October, 1917.
