Ihereas, the public interest and convenience recuire that the street work and improvement hereinafter described and set forth should be done. (e) That the center twenty (20) feet of the roadway of East Twenty-3ixth Street from the easterly line of Santa Fe Avenue to a point two (2) feet westerly of the westerly tracks of the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway Company intersecting said Eas Twenty -Sixth Street, including all intersections of streets and be resurfaced with asphalt concrete wearing surTHaee in accordance with Plans No. 106 and Specifications No. 14, hereinabove referred Ito EXCh?TING, however, from all of the afore -described work such portion or portions of said street as is or are required by law to be kept in order or repair by any person or company having railroad tracks thereon, REFE_'EPdCE is hereby made to the plans and specifications hereinabove mentioned for further particulars regarding the intend -2- " � e work and improvement. IT IS FURTHER RESOLVED that the City P,Iarshall of the City of Vernon be, and he is hereby selected, designated and appointed `street 7uperintendant of the City of Vernon and as such, is hereby instructed, empowered and designated to perform any and all duties required of him by law. All of the herein proposed work shall be done in pursuance of an act of the Legislature of the State of California entitled, "An act to provide for work upon streets, lanes, alloys, acurta, places and sidewalks, and for the construction of sewers within municipalities," approved ',larch 18, 1885, and the several acts amendatory thereof or supplementary therto. There being no daily, semi -weekly or weekly newspaper published and circulated in the City of Vernon, the City Clerk is hereby directed to post theis resolution conspicuously for two days on or near the chamber door of the Board of Trustees, and in additi thereto, to post and keep same posted for two successive weeks in (three of the most public places in the City of Vernon, to wit: the wroftwest Berner of Santa 2A�,.Lvenue and Thirty-eighth Street, the orthwest corner of Runts Fe Avenue and Thirty-seventh Street, and t the entrance to the City Hall at the Tdorthwest corner of Thirty- ighth and Irving Streets, The Street Superintendant is hereby directed to conspicuous at or caused to be posted conspicuously and kept posted for tuo ive weeks, notice of the passage of this resolution in two f the most public places in the City of Vernon, to wit: the North - eat corner of Thirty-eighth Street and Santa Fe Avenue and the orthwest corner of Thirty-seventh Street and Santa Fe Avenue, and a addition thereto, to post or cause to be posted, notices of the of this resolution for six days on or near the chamber door f the Hoard of Trustees in the City Hall. It is hereby determined, in pursuance of an act of the legis- ature of the State of California, entitle:& "An act to provide a yatem of street improvement bonds to represent certain assessments or the cost of street work and improvement within munioipalities, .3. and also for the payment of such bonds," approved February 27, 1893 as thereafter amended, that bonds shall be issued to represent assessments of twenty-five dollars ($26.000 or over for the cost of said work and improvement. Said bonds shall be serial, extend- ing over a period of nine years from. the second day of January next' succeeding the issuance of said ponds, an even annual proportion Of the principal sum thereof shall be payable by coupon on the second day of January every year after their date until the whole is paid, and to bear interest at the rate of six per cent per annum on all sums unpaid until the whole of said principal and interest are paid, said interest shall be payable semi-annually by ooupon on the second day of January and July respectively, of each and every year.
