S examine and declare the sealed proposals or bids for doing certain

7 "Improvement Act of 1911", the name of the street and highway pro-
8 posed to be improved, anc. the location and character of said pro-
9 posed work being described in Resolution of Intention Igo. 267, of
10 said Board of Trustees, adopted on tide 4th day of Septer_ber, 1923,

12 further particulars; THEREFORE,
13 BE IT RESOLVED, that the said Board, of Trustees hereby

16 provement to the lowest responsible bidder, to -wit:

A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE CITY OF
VERNON, AWARDING THE CONTRACT FOR THE WORK. AND IMPROVEMENT DES-
CRIBED IN RESOLUTION OF INTENTION NO. 267.
WHJH2EAS, the Board of Trustees of the City of Vernon,
511 did, in open session, on the 16th day of October, 1923, open,
examine and declare the sealed proposals or bids for doing certain
711 work and improvement in said City, under and in pursuance of the

"Improvement Act of 1911", of the State of California, the name of
the street and highway proposed to be improved, and the location
and character of said improvement being described in Resolution of
Intention No. 267, of said City of Vernon, adopted the 4th day of
September, 1923, i^:hich Resolution of Intention is hereby expressly
1311 referred to for further particulars, and
1411 WHEREAS, said proposals and bids were then and there
1511 referred to a committee, consisting of all members of the Board

then present, to report on the same on the 23rd day of October,
1903, said committee having reported.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the said Board of Trustees
hereby reject all of said proposals or bids, except the next herein
mentioned, and hereby award the contract for doing said work and
improvement to the lowest responsible bidder, to wit: L. A. PAVING
COE PANY, Inc., at the price named in its bid.
The City Clerk is hereby directed to publish a notice
of this award twice in the Huntington Park Signal, a newspaper
published in the City of Huntington Park, County of Los Angeles,
and circulated in the City of Vernon, said paper being designated
2711 by the said Board of Trustees as the paper to publish the notice
